I think there is this aesthetic austerity displayed in almost all levels of Somali society. You can go to any Somali community mosque in UK or South Africa you find the style, i think we are too obsessed with the hereafter to beautify this world. (1/2)

Literally any Somali house you visit there is the same quasi religious posters, names of Allah. That terribly curtain that is bought from the same supplier in Dubai. Utterly dull furniture. Absolutely no symmetry. It's nothing to do hygiene or cleanliness.. (2/3)
