Did The #GratefulDead play The Barn in Rio Nido, Ca. 50yrsAgoToday? There is no known recordings of a Sunday jam session, but it was scheduled & announced in conjunction with the 6/27&28th shows in Santa Rosa. Here’s LostLiveDeads thoughts on the matter: https://t.co/71alCdsguV
Furthermore, Pig is ON! I like the KingBee, and i LOVE the Lovelight! Get you some Pig tonight. (...you know you want it! (All 28:18 minutes of it!!!))
50yrsAgoToday was a fine time in SantaRosa,Ca as The #GratefulDead did another superb CountryFolkAmericana set. A 9song-show saw a Slewfoot, SilverThreads, an Uncle,a Rag & a HiTime performed acoustic &/or on PedalSteel! https://t.co/yTzh0o7k68 Bonafied Country, y’all!
While it’s not necessarily a great show, i feel that it has historic merit. It shows (better than other era shows?) The Boys in a transitive place. Trying on new things, growing, experimenting. I like the Me&MyUncle with Peter Grant (banjo) & “Marmaduke”Dawson (ofNRPS/vocals)
...and further more, the DarkStar flows into a StStephen>WilliamTellBridge>GreenGreenGrassOfHome (with Garcia returning to the pedal steel!!)
I find this to be a really amazing and often unrecognized show of great merit. CHECKITOUT!!!
50yrsAgoToday The #GratefulDead opened the 1st of a three night run in Sonoma county at the Veterans Memorial in SantaRosa, a small town across TheBridge from SF. Jorma&Cassidy share the bill and the Dead play alot of there brand-spanking-new material! https://t.co/qH11eIn91Q
But it’ the DarkStar that gets me!! Again, here is #AnotherGreatDarkStar, it’s starts slow and lost. The opening chords soft give way to Jerry’s wandering notes. Then it rambles and then rumbles and dives into abstract realms of chaos that shake and rattle ones skull! LoveThis1!
Slewfoot, MamaTried>HighTime, Dupree's, Me&MyUncle, Jam>Casey Jones, DireWolf, SittingOnTopOfThe World>BigBossMan all have that country-americana twang and feature acoustic instrumentsxand/or Jerry on pedal steel. Some of these had been played no fewer than 5 times!
The Archive link goes to the complete EarlyShow(AUD) and LateShow(SBD). The audience recording is pretty rough, but an interesting listen considering where they were in their evolution- Garcia plays pedal steel guitar on GreenGreenGrass, Slewfoot, OldHouse,& DireWolf(weir sung)
50yrsAgoToday The #GratefulDead brought their psychedelic-country sound to TheFillmoreEast in #NewYorkCity. There was an early/late show and sometimes Garcia played the pedal steel guitar. There was an Alligator, & a DarkStar. ChinaCat was there.AHighTime! https://t.co/FwcV4z4bb9
50yrsAgoToday, June 20th 1969, The #GratefulDead release the studio album Aoxomoxoa. https://t.co/eRvi6CxpDZ Composed of zippy tunes like China Cat Sunflower and Doin That Rag aswell as the crowd pleasing St Stephen, the album reflected their 1969 psychedelic style!
...and before you can contemplate “TransitiveNightfallsOfDiamonds” they are pounding their way into your inner-sanctum spraying dayglo grafitti all over the new wallpaper!!
...&then as quickliy as they barged in, they slip away into verse2 and the TransitiveNightfallOfDiamonds...
50yrsAgoToday The #GratefulDead throw down a’hellava show at The MonterayPerformingArtsCenter. BestOf’69? Some Heads think so!
#TopShelf show indeed, with a super-stellar DarkStar and an 11 that is fast&insane! In my Top11. And 2 LOVELIGHTS!!
https://t.co/fV2n3IXqWV A MUST HEAR!
..Seriously tho. This One is not just #AnotherGreatDarkStar. It’s SO good that i just kerp listening to it. It’s the kind of Star that burns HOT&FAST! It grooves it’s way into your mood, and then suddenly they are singing the 1st verse...
