People without children often hear this line as judgment. It is not. It is simply truth, said softly.
You can live a full life without a child. You can travel, build, earn, heal, and enjoy freedom. All of that is real. But there is a dimension you will never touch until you become responsible for a life that exists because of you.
A child changes the axis of time.
Suddenly, the future is not abstract. It has a face, a voice, and tiny hands holding your finger.
You learn a kind of love that is not romantic, not transactional, not conditional. A love that shows up even when you are tired, broke, scared, or failing. A love that humbles you daily and strengthens you quietly.
You start measuring success differently.
Not by applause. Not by money.
But by whether you are becoming someone your child can feel safe with and proud of.
Children force growth. They expose your impatience, your selfishness, your unresolved wounds. And then they give you a reason to fix them. Not tomorrow. Today.
Legacy stops being a word and becomes a responsibility.
You realize you are not just living your life.
You are shaping a human who will walk the world long after you are gone.
People without children are not missing happiness.
They are missing this specific depth of meaning.
And you do not know it is missing
until it arrives.
A childhood friend fell in love with this guy when we were in +2. They continued that relationship in BTech joined in Tech Mahindra together, changed companies, got married, have two kids. Bought a home with their own money, living a life that is a dream for most of us.
The girl changed company after second pregnancy break, and she learned some new tech, changed field, and now making more than the guy. Except for post pregnancy 6 months, she never took break. She went to office till 9th month. She is really really hardworking. She feels really happy working for her kids and husband.
Now, the guy’s mother fell sick, and he asked her to quit working. She said, I will take care of finances, I already had enough breaks with first pregnancy, now you take a break, I want to continue working and I will help out as much as I can with home also.
She even offered to ask her mother to come over to look after the kids.
But the mother-in-law is not comfortable having the girl’s mom at home as it is her son’s home, (mind you both girl and guy co-own the house and paying equally) and the guy doesn’t want to quit the job, as this misogynistic piece of shit and his mom thinks it is the girl’s responsibility to quit when situation comes.
When things doesn’t go their way, they started emotionally abusing her in various ways.
Finally she is done with him, and moved to her parents’ home, with kids and TOLD HIM IF HIS MOTHER WANTS TO COME OVER SHE CAN COME AND STAY WITH HER PARENTS AS LONG AS SHE WANTS.
But that guy sent legal notice threatening divorce. Finally she filed divorce.
In a misogynistic system, no matter how hard a woman works, how much she earns, or how much she loves and how much she sacrifices, she is treated as worthless the moment she refuses to give up her autonomy.
The weird thing about reading so much as a child and gaining a huge vocabulary from that is I can't define a lot of the words I use, I just know that they would fit correctly in a specific sentence. Does anyone else experience that?
My electric bill just came today, and I believe I got charged for the sunlight, moonlight, streetlight, the light of the Holy Spirit, and the light at the end of the tunnel!
There’s a special kind of rage that comes from knowing your life would be easier in a functioning country.
Not richer, not luxurious.
Just easier.
And realizing that ease was stolen from you before you even had a choice.
I told myself I did not want flowers. I told myself I did not want fancy dinners. I told myself I did not want a ring and a marriage and a child so we could give the world the gift of ourselves after we were long gone, and men praised me for how little I wanted, and for how small I made myself, tinier and sadder than a wild mouse that shivered to taste just a drop of sugar water from their outstretched pinky.
But the truth was I did want. I wanted all of it. I wanted flowers and I wanted gold and I wanted our blood mixed into a daughter's smile. I wanted and I should have said from the beginning that I wanted and reveled in the desires that would have made both of us bigger and more capable with the wanting.
Instead I made us both weak. I made us both small. I crippled us a little more with every "I don't want" and I was praised for it.

Delhi CM says Sanskrit is the most computer-friendly language.
After 40+ years studying advanced computer science, I’ve never seen Sanskrit used in a single computing system.
