New server is running. There were a lot more issues migrating the drive and setting up than I imagined, but it appears to be working fine, in the coming weeks I will tweak it for performance and stability. Post here if you notice a problem.

Upgrading the server soon. I run it locally with edge servers feeding content to make it feel snappier. I have been unhappy with how it manages heat and throttling in busy times, a few hundred thousand hits a day. The new server will have no such limitations.
Anyone remember mucks? The only one I ever played was furrymuck. I have always had a place in my heart for text based services. I learned to type on text based games.
Great advice. Used these since the 90’s, because “Dragon tail“. Everything fits in the second largest version for most travel but prefer the largest, holds my clothes too; some international flights allow it; also shipped it. Label and tape for moisture; 2 hidden trackers always.
Still refining the tagging. Looking at how these much younger sites do it, it’s just to cluttered. While there’s limits because of how DB’s store/retrieve, there‘s simpler options.
Also, I added auto-fill for searches. Type as few characters as possible to get what you want.
I have been refining the keyword system. It now displays character (names) uniquely, as well as -sutimakers. If there is another category that should be separated from the general keywords, reply with your suggestions. The page can be found here. https://t.co/zdVBoBgv1E
We are solid now, hidden behind Cloudflar’s Tunnel, we no longer have direct exposure to the web, and testing indicates several times faster responses. We were pushing over 3 million requests per month so it was time to industrialize a bit. If you find a problem, let me know.
That was not much fun. Spent the day configuring the new WebServer. Everything from the Cloudflare proxy to a nginx reverse proxy for the database. But it appears to be running smoothly and handling about 2 million unique hits per month. Now it’s ready to take on more tasks.
Getting a large number of port scans from the Netherlands. A search finds the it’s a huge haven for Chinese, Russian, and North Korean bot-nets. All blocked, but things one learns…
What a difference in resources, nginx hardly touches the system even with a stress test. if Apache2 is the everything server, nginx is the sports car. In the next weeks I will be putting the site through various online tests to get feedback on tweets I can make it more efficient.
Finally, a week late...
Server moved to a new U.2 SSD drive capable of over 2GB a second read and writes. Ten years on the old HD was long enough. I had to complicate things by moving to a more modern DB server and going with nginx rather than Apache2, a big learning curve.
https://t.co/ojTutlMcC4 will go down for a few hours tomorrow morning to switch to the new SSD. Ten years on a drive is a bit much; while I am not getting errors, and everything is archived daily, I don't want to take a chance.
Replacing a ten year old drive; no errors, I don’t like pushing things. Using Grok to assist is very helpful, but, since discontinuing my X premium, I am limited to 18 questions in two hours. However @elonmusk, Grok seems to always work it so I‘m 2 steps away when I hit my limit.
