@TsitsiaMaria@LilithBlack25 You´re right. The Extermination of Europeans by Turks at the same time isn't largely talked about. Those descendants of imperalists conceals their genocieds and crimes against humanity well, they even not admitt their crimes, preaching about their alleged "moral superiority" 🤮
@turtlducks as performative and part of the PR. He had to know what would happen. And because of Hollywood's reach, it may become the only version of Odyssey that millions of people will ever meet. He should write his own story then, not butchered another else´s.
@turtlducks into another american narrative. Nolan's film could be spectacular and make huge bucks, yet still be the worst retelling of an ancient Greek myth that lies at the foundation of both Greek and European identity, partly because of its race-swapped casting, which I increasingly see
@daveleedwnundr And Hollywood's success would only deepen the problem as for hundreds of millions of people, for decades to come, Nolan's version be the only Odyssey they ever know. Tragic.
@daveleedwnundr american narratives. Greek mythology is repeated victim here. Nolan´s Odyssey may be a spectacular film and make billions, yet still be one of the worst retellings of an ancient myth which is one of the founding stories of Greek an European culture.
@supergeekmike write his own myth to play with. The saddest part is that thanks to Hollywood's reach, for hundreds of millions of people Nolan's version become THE Odyssey. They will never meet with it directly. Regardless of how a brilliant Nolan film it is, that would be the real tragedy.
@supergeekmike much it will make or how good or bad actors performance were is irrelevant. Even if Homer was or wasnt a historical person is irrelevant. If Nolan wanted to exhibit his artistic excelence and not retell someone else's cultural inheritance with humility to it, then he should
@alexritman Could be. but i'll wait for Greek comments after movie hits their cinemas (after indian, chinese ect). If they can’t identify with Nolan’s version of their myth, then he just made another US money-making spetacular movie, for it he should write his story, not steal someone else’s
@holland_tom I'll wait for Greek comments after movie hits their cinemas, long after indian or chinese ones. If they can’t identify with Nolan’s version of their myth, then he made another US money-making movie, be it spectacular. For it he should write his own story, not steal someone else’s
@alexmassie I'll wait for Greek comments after the movie hits their cinemas finaly, long after indians or chinese ones. If they can’t identify with Nolan’s version of their myth, then he just made another us money-making movie for which he should write his own story, not steal someone else’s
@276Amogh@Preetam_M_Rao yay. had you ever read the books? story gets absolutelly butchered in this series. especially second and third movies are ... meh. Hopefully Nolan did not make US spectacle from another story which is not his to tell. Why are americans so fascinated in anothers people myths?
