BREAKING: In a shocking development Canada announces it will build a coalition of countries who share their values to build their economy and trade opportunities and will exclude the United States.
“If the U.S. no longer wants to lead, Canada will.”
This guy is on a roll.
France, England, Iqaluit and now squaring things up with Canada’s Premiers.
If there was ever any questions about whether @MarkJCarney can handle the job - those questions have been answered clearly and firmly this week.
Great to meet with my friend, Premier Ford, this morning! We agreed to slash all economic barriers within our country very, very quickly. The way to fight U.S. tariffs is by building one economy, not 13! #CanadaStrong 🇨🇦
Today, I joined @beynate to announce a landmark partnership of $2.55 billion in low-cost financing to start construction of thousands of homes. The City is also putting in financial incentives such as relief from development charges, fees and property taxes.
President Trump’s latest tariffs are an attack on Canadian workers, families, and businesses. My government will ensure our response has maximum impact in the US and minimal impact here in Canada, while supporting the workers impacted.
My government will keep our tariffs on until the Americans show us respect and make credible, reliable commitments to free and fair trade.
“I’ve lost all hope.”
That’s what a 23 year old licensed electrician making $90k a year told me today.
He continued….
“I’ve come to the conclusion I’ll never be able to own a home, I can’t save fast enough for a down payment and I can’t even think about starting a family as I can barley afford what’s going on for myself let alone providing for others. I’m finding myself researching more and more about leaving Canada. It’s like this country isn’t meant for my generation at all.”
As someone with two children basically the same age as him, I could only tell him that I agreed with how he’s feeling because I see hope being lost in my own home.
Decision makers at upper levels of government has to help, and us at the municipal level need to continue to make positive urgent decisions to help with this crisis or I think we’re in deep deep trouble that will leave lasting negative impacts and consequences.
