This whole thing about "constructive criticism" on Ao3 and on fan works as a whole makes me bitterly laugh, because most people don't know what "constructive criticism" really are.

Most of the time it's a way to get away with being rude to the creator and hate on the creation.

@lia_404 @justThemys Making a constructive comment takes as much work as actually writing the text in the first place. It takes effort. It takes time. It is not a quicked typed comment on a whim.

They say "constructive criticism" but what they really mean is "destructive criticism" because it's about destroying the bits they don't like and sometimes even push the authors/artists/makers to stop doing what they want to do instead of improving.

@PlayrControllr Having good passing as a cis-hetero man certainly helps though. Also, being white. The pressure is hard to keep up with, but not that hard compared to what I have witnessed among many of my past coworkers...
