What you say is true, but another factor is the difference between male and female courtship dynamics. An attractive female can garner attention from pretty much whomever she wants, assuming he’s on the market, so she can afford the luxury of pre-filtering out conservative men. This also explains why men are insentivized to conceal their politics if they’re conservative.

An average man, on the other hand, needs to expend considerable effort to garner attention from a potential mate. I don’t think conservative men seek out liberal women so much as they just don’t exclude them from their potential dating pool. Since most women are liberal, excluding them would drastically increase the chances that he’ll remain single.

This is partly correct, at least for a portion of the left. But it doesn't account for the predominant sentiment driving traditional libtard culture as it relates to this issue, at least in the US. I think the cognitive dissonance (‘hypocrisy’) referenced here arises from a feminine preference for plausible deniability, which prioritizes an abject avoidance of any uncomfortable realizations or truths.
The confusion surrounding this issue reflects the larger divide that our cultural-political environment has wedged between masculine and feminine preferences for engaging with the outside world. Men tend to analyze things and systems; women perseverate on social harmony and in-group dynamics. Particularly in our current era, where our society is largely removed from the brutal realities of dealing with barbarians at the gates, women have developed a colossal blind spot to the threats posed by these dangers, like Islamic extremists.
