I can’t comment on the abundance of jobs (in my industry they are not hiring), but why would an employer hire a kid out of uni (who probably sees the job as a stepping stone before getting a job in their preferred field) vs a middle aged veteran who won’t need nearly as much training?
I do think some kids need to graft harder, but both can be true 👍🏽
@th333aaa We question teenagers and absolutely do not question the amount of money we throw at pensioners.
64+ age group were lowest approval rating for £2 bus fare cap 🤔
A simple Google search would reveal that current tax payers pay for the uk state pension that pensioners receive.
Young people have a right to question whether this is the best use of our tax funds. Exactly how pensioners can question the £2 bus cap and prevent more affordable houses being built.
1) it’s working people paying for their pension, that’s simply how it works.
2) cool, I’m not asking them to go back to work
3) it’s incredibly hard to claim PIP if you read into it. Remote work is also rare and industry dependent
When young people retire, we will not have the same level of benefits the current pensioners currently have. It’s unsustainable
@shadowstar5727@Telegraph They have never had the chance to pay into the system. Young people (for the most part) want to work, but there are less opportunities.
@JeffriesOliver@Telegraph Even if we focus purely on pensions, the triple lock is unsustainable. Working families don’t get the benefit of having their income increased every year.
We cut other benefits, why can’t we cut triple lock?
@arsenal_chief@Telegraph Yeah I see where you’re coming from! Young people should be in work, as it helps them in multiple ways (mental health, independence, contributing to society etc). I think young people (for the most part) want to work, but there aren’t enough jobs out there!
@JeffriesOliver@Telegraph Yeah I think we should take a look at means-testing benefits like winter fuel allowance, state pensions and free bus passes. Similar to how we means test for other benefits.
@BenCope_ Compared to mainland Europe, it’s embarrassing. What’s the root cause here - is it lack of transmitters or type? I vaguely remember we banned Huawei years back.
