just finished beat & motion. a cute short little story about two people who want to follow their dreams. not a masterpiece by any means, but valuable as a fun short read for the weekend. 6/10

Third arc and fourth arcs were good, but I think I enjoyed the second arc the most. Guess watching someone become just a simple farmer can still be extremely entertaining. I think I'll give this manga a high 8 to a low 9.

Finished Vinland saga. Ending was fine but it definitely didn't feel conclusive? maybe I felt like there would've been a grander ending for a manga as revered as Vinland saga, but I also don't think that was the authors goal so it's also a bit unfair to place those expectations

Just finished the prologue of Vinland saga, the war arc. I haven't read enough to judge the full story, but this was a very good extended prologue and I'm excited to see what happens next. Really enjoying how askeladd was written, he's secretly the real MC of this arc

I've read makoto yukimura's previous work planetes before, and something that Im liking in both series so far is the amount of research that's gone into each series with the little notes and side stories at the end of some chapters. Really makes each story feel flushed out.

Ch 178: this fight between Luffy and crocodile, although only lasting a few chapters, was really fun to read. Just shows that Luffy is a tiny, tiny pirate in a big big world ATM. He had no chance from the start

One piece has this weird tendency to appear like it's not that good but for some reason it's still super endearing. It's like it's able to place a spell on u to make u care somehow

one piece, so far, has managed to be interesting. there are some parts that are cliche, and i for sure roll my eyes a lot, but i can see the immense potential. rn, id honestly rate the series a light 6 (right about average), but i wonder how this will change when i reach ch 200

something ive realized that i love about worldbuilding: i love having subtle powerscaling/having like groups of things. for example, learning about how there are supreme grade, great grade, and fine grade swords in one piece makes me super interested to learn about each sword

i have so much more fun reading the wiki for those series and watching theory videos, but actually consuming that media was so annoying and boring and frusterating for me. i go on a yearly tog wiki scroll, but i just cant be bothered to actually read that shit
