NEW: Tufts University student on a visa from Turkey detained by ICE while heading out to break her Ramadan fast.

Rumeysa Ozturk, who is a Turkish citizen and a doctoral student, was arrested and sent to a detention center.

Ozturk previously demanded that Tufts “acknowledge the Palestinian genoc*de” and divest from companies tied to Israel.

The Trump admin is accusing her of “engaging in activities in support of Hamas.”

“DHS + ICE investigations found Ozturk engaged in activities in support of Hamas, a foreign terrorist organization that relishes the k*lling of Americans,” said Assistant Secretary for DHS Security Tricia McLaughlin.

According to ICE records, Ozturk was sent to a detention facility in Louisiana.
