It was an ABSURD ask - UK would be the fourth largest military spender in the world after US, China and Russia.

Vast amounts of that would be siphoned off by rapacious, price-gouging contractors in the most corrupt industry in the world. And none of it would help - in fact, it would mostly worsen - the biggest threat to global security, which is climate change.

The right wing press will try and present Healey's ask as eminently reasonable, but it was a ludicrous cash grab at the same time that were cutting overseas aid, climate change mitigation and welfare spending.

🚨 ANDREW TATE LAWSUIT UPDATE 🚨

Andrew and Tristan Tate are suing me, along with several other commentators and posters.

Today, our lawyers filed a motion asking the Florida court to DISMISS the case.

The core issue is simple:

The Tates live in Romania.

I live in Australia.

Yet they chose to file this lawsuit in Florida.

Our motion argues the court lacks personal jurisdiction, that service was improper, and that the complaint fails on multiple legal grounds.

After more than a year of litigation, I continue to believe this lawsuit is a frivolous attempt to silence critics and should be dismissed.

I'll keep everyone updated as the case progresses.

The hypocrisy is as blatant as it is predictable.

A Black teenager attends an event he has every right to attend, legally possesses a knife, is confronted, and suddenly the chorus becomes: “Why did he have a knife?” “He should have walked away.” “He shouldn’t have defended himself.”

A white teenager travels to a city where he doesn’t live, inserts himself into a volatile protest, carries an AR-15 he was too young to possess, claims he is there to protect property he does not own, shoots two people, and the very same voices instantly declare: “That was self-defense.”

So which is it?

The answer is painfully obvious.

In America, self-defense is not a principle. It is a racial privilege. A privilege extended to white people and denied to Black people.
