Sales - if they are lying about this, they’ve been overpaying royalties for years to keep the fraud up

COGS - standardized supply chain means this is knowable

Rent - Lease agreement confirms this

Labor - payroll reports verify it

Royalties + marketing - contractual with franchisor

Other SG&A - just look at brand averages and sanity check if it’s too low / too high

It’s kind of cliche, but the K shaped economy is real

Top 5% is doing real well, then a massive swath is getting steamrolled by inflation.

I don’t believe it’s sustainable long term. Our economy is driven by our large middle class, and they are having to cut back.

GDP growth right now is all coming from AI infrastructure buildout, which is masking softness everywhere else.

Winning businesses are going to be the ones that figure out how to deliver good value at the best possible prices. I also think we’ll see continued migration from HCOL states into more affordable areas.

@HowardRoark90 Yes, private equity is a massive asset class. There are great firms that add real value, and there are bad firms that throw lipstick on a pig in hopes of making a quick buck (just like CRE)
