Kenya Democratic Consolidation will fully mature when the rules and resources of basic democratic institutions are sufficiently entrenched - sufficiently protected by their own and other vested interests and sufficiently endowed with symbolic significance and normative approval
I think Government has now successfully orchestrated downfall of Mpesa.
It is time for banks to sweep in and go for the kill.
With risks associated with Mpesa. And now this Government monitoring, we are better off transacting with cards than Mobile money.
❗️The government has allocated 95 bob to your children.
Meanwhile, millions of shillings are being dished out in political rallies for mobilization. That’s the regime’s priority.
> We don't have a country here! Who will save this Country
Ugandans now need written permission from President Museveni’s son Muhoozi Kainerugaba to import Starlink equipment.
The ban comes just 24 days before January’s general election. The government switched off the internet during the 2021 polls
The Boda Boda Association of Kenya has threatened nationwide protests if Parliament passes the Public Transport Bill 2023. That threat is irrelevant—and should not matter.
What the Bill proposes is simple, lawful, and long overdue: mandatory county registration for all boda boda operators to end anonymity and impunity; compulsory GPS tracking on motorcycles to curb crime and enhance accountability; strict helmet and reflective jacket requirements for both riders and passengers to save lives; a 50kg luggage limit to stop dangerous overloading; a Sh20,000 fine for riding on pedestrian walkways; and severe penalties—including a Sh100,000 fine or jail time—for group intimidation, mob violence, and lawlessness.
These reforms are not negotiable. They protect pedestrians, passengers, property, and responsible riders who are tired of being associated with chaos. Regulation is not oppression—it is order.
And let it be said clearly: we do not care whether they go on strike or not. In fact, if a strike is the price of restoring safety, discipline, and the rule of law on Kenyan roads, so be it. We dare them to strike.
The country must move forward.
The National Assembly of Kenya must pass this Bill without fear, without dilution, and without apology.
When police officers, or KRA are busy inspecting luggage at customs, is it due diligence or rent seeking ? Sababu the disappointment in their faces when they don't find anything to hold you, is so loud.
As part of our partner monitoring and evaluation efforts under the OROF Project, ForumCiv has just concluded the 2025 Partners’ Reflection and Learning Meeting.
During the meeting, partners reflected on and shared feedback on project implementation, updated the Kenya Civic Space Risk Assessment, reviewed progress of the capacity-building programme and its application within their organisations, and exchanged lessons on how the programme is strengthening their internal systems and overall impact.
In addition, the meeting featured a session with the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights, a crucial engagement that enhances partners’ contribution to UN processes, documentation, and action on human rights violations.
Grateful to all partners for their insights, commitment, and collaboration as we continue strengthening civic space and advancing human rights.
Secretary Rubio,
I have read your Substack post from 3 December 2025.
From the outset, let me extend congratulations to the United States on assuming the G20 Presidency. We offer our sincere wishes for a successful term, one that we hope will serve the cause of global unity and inclusive progress.
Your words, however, compel me to speak—not merely as a representative of a government, but as a voice from a nation whose very existence is a testament to a profound truth: that the deepest divides can be bridged. Not through dictation, but through dialogue, not through power alone, but through unwavering principle, not through unilateral action but global solidarity.

The partnership review meeting between Kenya Law and ForumCiv, led by Kenya Law’s Editor/CEO (Ag.) Ms. Janet Munywoki, offered valuable reflections on our current MoU, strengthened collaboration, and fresh momentum for the journey ahead.
We can’t keep treating these scandals like background noise. For decades it’s been the same script “irregularities,” “lapses,” “errors” yet no one is ever held accountable.
Let’s be honest: no one walks away with 300B in government bonds without Treasury and CBK’s knowledge. That’s not oversight that’s complicity.
What is even more alarming is the growing numbness among citizens. As the figures become more outrageous, the public explanations become more casual, and the impunity becomes more entrenched. The theft gets bigger, the excuses get softer, and impunity grows bolder. Parliament and the Senate must step up. Why aren’t they over-sighting this? it’s only Okiya that has been consistent.
