GOC #GajrajCorps joined the 80th #IndependenceDay celebrations with troops of 134 #EcoTaskForce, the DFO and staff of #NameriReserveForest.

The GOC commended the tireless efforts of #EcoTaskForce towards restoring and conserving the ecology, flora and fauna of the #GajrajCorps area and degraded areas in Behali Wildlife Sanctuary in coordination with state #Administration.

In recognition of their dedicated service, personnel of #EcoTaskForce and forest staff were felicitated with awards.

Since its raising, 134 ETF has planted nearly one crore saplings across 5,600 hectares in the ecologically fragile biodiversity hotspots along the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, including #NameriTigerReserve and #SonaiRupaiWildlifeSanctuary. ��

While it’s important to support our students and ask for educational reforms that positively impact the future of our youth, it’s also very important that peaceful protests by students are Not hijacked by anti national elements to create chaos & change the nature of the protest.

Seeing so much hate & divide online makes me wonder if bad elements in & outside our country have already started to work overtime to weaponise the anger & frustration felt by our students.

I have always believed in hard work, equality and excellence & that should never be compromised. What is surprising is the repeated demand to “CO se baat karao” and “Commander se baat karao,” by the police inspector as if the soldiers were acting on their own. Soldiers deployed on the ground function under the orders of their commanding officers. Whether they had established a checkpoint or were regulating traffic, they were there because their chain of command had assigned them that duty not because they decided it themselves.

In such situations, Army commanders should not be expected to entertain public intimidation of their men. If an officer is found to have wrongfully threatened or harassed soldiers performing official duties, the Army should also consider appropriate legal remedies instead of always being on the receiving end of FIR threats.

It has increasingly become a weapon to casually threaten Army personnel with an FIR. But where is the accountability when a police officer behaves unprofessionally with serving soldiers? Who is held responsible for undermining the dignity of another uniform?

🔥 If the administration forced a military CHT convoy to halt in a terror-prone zone just to service an official's ego, it is not just arrogance, it is playing with the lives of our soldiers.

In the highly volatile terrain of Kashmir, an Army convoy, even one utilizing Civil Hired Transport (CHT), is a prime target. In these dangerous sectors, movement is survival; halting a convoy makes sitting ducks out of the jawans. For Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma to reportedly demand that a military convoy stall simply to let his own cavalcade pass first shows a shocking disregard for the tactical realities and extreme security risks our soldiers face daily.

Despite the immense danger of being stranded, the jawans tried to handle the situation. But the ultimate betrayal occurred when a policeman allegedly cocked his service rifle at the troops.

You do not point a loaded weapon at combat-hardened soldiers of the Rashtriya Rifles who are already on edge, stranded in a high-risk area. To a soldier trained to neutralize threats in fractions of a second, a cocked rifle is an immediate, lethal threat. The fact that the entire blame is now being dumped on the heads of the Indian Army is a complete travesty.

How quickly the civil administration forgets.

Just a year ago, when Kishtwar was drowning under devastating flash floods, it wasn't the bureaucrats' convoys that saved the day. When the local infrastructure collapsed, it was the jawans and the Commanding Officer of this exact 17 Rashtriya Rifles battalion who plunged into the mud and raging waters. They worked without sleep, pulling civilians from the rubble and rescuing the very region that now points weapons at them.
Our soldiers do not ask for VIP treatment; they only ask to do their duty and survive the gauntlet of the valley. To risk the lives of an entire convoy for a DC's right-of-way, and then criminalize the Army for reacting to a cocked weapon, is an unforgivable insult to the men who bleed to keep Kishtwar safe.

Back in the 1990s, I was DM and Collector (called DC in northern Sates and UT) in a border district (Barmer). The road to Barmer was narrow single lane and we encountered Army convoy quite often. If one got caught behind a convoy, it used to waste a lot of time. Back then, we had the red beacon too, but even that never helped. We had 2 units around Barmer and winters used to be exercise time too. I discussed it with the COs who advised me of the strict movement protocols the convoys had to follow. So what to do? I mustered up resources and got the road widened to 2 and a half lane. Problem solved for all. I actually became quite popular with the local Army and Air Force brass.
The DC of Kishtwar is not even an IAS officer. Yet his ego is bloated to oversize. If a jam is happening regularly due to Army movement, it is his fault.
