Our demands are clear:

1. Dharmendra Pradhan and Amit Shah must resign and be held accountable.

2. Every individual responsible for humiliating and brutalising students yesterday — whether a state or non-state actor — must be identified, investigated, and subjected to the strictest legal action.

3. All cases filed against the protesting students must be withdrawn immediately.

4. Today, on 22nd July, Parliament must hold a full and meaningful debate on the crisis facing India's youth, including the collapse of the education system and the mass police brutality unleashed against peaceful student protesters.

At the very least, Narendra Modi owes the nation — and especially the young people who were beaten and humiliated on the streets of Delhi — an unconditional apology. He should show the decency to seek it.

ವಿರೋಧ ಪಕ್ಷದ ನಾಯಕರಾದ ರಾಹುಲ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪ್ರಿಯಾಂಕಾ ಗಾಂಧಿ, ಅಖಿಲೇಶ್ ಯಾದವ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರ ವಿರೋಧ ಪಕ್ಷದ ನಾಯಕರನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಿರುವುದನ್ನು ತೀವ್ರವಾಗಿ ಖಂಡಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ದೆಹಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ನಡೆದ ಕ್ರೂರ ದಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ವಿರೋಧಿಸಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನಮಂತ್ರಿಯವರ ನಿವಾಸದ ಸಮೀಪ ಶಾಂತಿಯುತವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಿರುವುದು ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳ ಮೇಲಿನ ದಾಳಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.

ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನಾಕಾರರನ್ನು, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ರಾಹುಲ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಇತರ ನಾಯಕರನ್ನು ತಳ್ಳಾಡಿ, ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ದುರ್ವರ್ತನೆ ನಡೆಸಿರುವ ದೃಶ್ಯಗಳು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಆತಂಕಕಾರಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಖಂಡನೀಯ.

ಮೊದಲು ಮೋದಿ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಯುವಕರ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಲಾಠಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅಶ್ರುವಾಯು ಮೂಲಕ ಉತ್ತರ ನೀಡಿತು. ಈಗ, ಇದರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ದನಿಯೆತ್ತಿದ ಜನಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧವೇ ಪೊಲೀಸರನ್ನು ಬಳಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇದು ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಡಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ನಡೆ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಬದಲಿಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಂದ, ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಂದ ಮತ್ತು ಶಾಂತಿಯುತ ಪ್ರಜಾಸತ್ತಾತ್ಮಕ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆದರಿಕೂತ ಹೇಡಿ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.

ರಾಹುಲ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ ಅವರು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾ ಅಕ್ರಮಗಳು, ನಿರುದ್ಯೋಗ ಹೀಗೆ ಯುವ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಆಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಅನ್ಯಾಯದ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಪರವಾಗಿ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಧ್ವನಿ ಎತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ವಿರೋಧ ಪಕ್ಷದ ನಾಯಕರನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಅಥವಾ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ದುರ್ವರ್ತನೆ ತೋರುವುದರಿಂದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಗಿರುವ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಮರೆಮಾಚಲು ಸಾದ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ, ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ತನ್ನ ಹೊಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲೂ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ.

ಪ್ರಧಾನಮಂತ್ರಿಯವರು ಭಿನ್ನಾಭಿಪ್ರಾಯವನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿಕ್ಕಲು ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಬಲವನ್ನು ಬಳಸುವುದನ್ನು ತಕ್ಷಣ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, ದೇಶದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರ ನೀಡಬೇಕು. ಭಾರತದ ಯುವಜನತೆಗೆ ದಮನವಲ್ಲ; ನ್ಯಾಯ, ಹೊಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಗೌರವ ಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಮೋದಿಯವರು ಅರಿತು ವರ್ತಿಸಲಿ.

ನಾವು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ನ್ಯಾಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಧ್ವನಿ ಎತ್ತುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಪ್ರಜಾಸತ್ತಾತ್ಮಕ ಧ್ವನಿಯೊಂದಿಗೂ ದೃಢವಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲುತ್ತೇವೆ. ವಿರೋಧ ಪಕ್ಷದ ನಾಯಕರನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಭಾರತದ ಯುವಕರ ಆಕ್ರೋಶವನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಬಂಧಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಜ್ವಾಲಾಮುಖಿಯಂತೆ ಹಬ್ಬಿ ನರೇಂದ್ರ ಮೋದಿಯವರ ಸುಳ್ಳಿನ ಕೋಟೆಯನ್ನು ಸುಟ್ಟು ಬೂದಿ ಮಾಡಲಿದೆ.

1. Immediate removal of Dharmendra Pradhan (our demand since Day 1)

2. ⁠Discussion in Parliament on the NEET fiasco and the crisis in the education sector

3. ⁠Withdrawal of all cases against the students and youth who were peacefully protesting yesterday

The forceful detention of @RahulGandhi, @Priyanka Gandhi, @yadavakhilesh and other Opposition leaders during their protest is a severe affront to our democracy. Physical aggression against a peaceful protest is completely unjustifiable. An accountable government listens to dissent; it does not silence it through police action. This is not the India our Constitution envisages! We must never allow this appalling conduct to become the new normal.
