Posting this because one of our riders called mid-delivery saying he was dizzy and couldnโt see properly. We had to get him back.
Heat strokes are real, and these guys work continuously. Please be mindful and also patient with all deliveries. Safety over convenience ALWAYS.
The Bangalore heat is getting unbearable, even for those of us indoors. Delivery riders are out in it for 8-12 hours every day.
If youโre ordering, please offer them a glass of water or something cold. Itโs a small gesture, but it genuinely helps.
We are happy to announce that.. ๐
(not a funding announcement)

Recommendations for good fitness places near HSR Sector 7? I would like to do something other than the traditional gym. Like Animal Flow, MMA, CrossFit, etc.
It felt dystopian when I heard of protein water. My first thought was - bhai atleast leave water alone
But then I spoke with Aditya who's building BeBrawn & packing 10g whey isolate in a can of water
Made sense when he explained - you dont always want to eat a bar, sometimes you're just not hungry. Or sometimes those extra nuts & whatnot adds calories you dont want
So he put it in water - as convenient as it can get
We partnered up & BeBrawn is now available exclusively on https://t.co/cEoV5JW9RV

This is either lazy reporting or intentional deception.
I have interacted with 100s of riders & this is the truth:
1. A bulk of earnings come from incentives. This could be between 40%-100% of base pay. Insurance cover extra.
2. Headline says "10-minute window". But only 1 out of the 3 gigs here was q-com. The other 2 were food delivery that existed years before q-com started.
3. Don't confuse Order as a unit of Gig. Each unit of Gig is either a time slot, a day, or even a week. Incentives are tied to each unit of gig or collection of such, based on slab-based targets of work done.
4. Time of day matters. Peak times (mornings and late-evening to night upto 10PM) are high-earner slots. The slot for the q-com gig here is 1PM to 7PM. That's only 1.5-2 peak hours.
5. The actual earnings per rider is Rs. 100 per hour (right from the horse's mouth: @deepigoyal ). And also explained in next point
6. After incentives, some riders earn up to โน40-โน45k p.m. Yes, by working close to 14-15 hours a day. But... you know what? I've offered them a job for โน32k, at 10 hours a day including breaks, but they refused. This cohort is overworking at will. Then there are some who work 8-10 hours a day and are happy with 25-30k.
7. Platform competition is real and very intense. If a gig worker is not making enough on a platform, he immediately jumps to the next one offering more. This system ensures workers are paid as high as possible.
I def agree there's *some* level of exploitation (company side) & classism (consumer / society side) that exist.
But the data reporting here is deceptive.
We need better reporting standards to fix problems rather than antagonizing the gig economy as a whole.
Today I took an auto from HSR to Silk Board, got out, walked 100 meters past the junction and booked another auto to Richmond Road.
I saved 30 minutes and Rs 40.
