A HISTORIC PODIUM FOR BHARAT. 🇮🇳🥉

MIT-WPU student Shreyasi Joshi has made the nation proud by becoming the first Bharatiya to win a medal at the Lishui Inline Freestyle International.

Representing Bharat at the 2026 Lishui International Inline Freestyle Open in China, Shreyasi secured the Bronze Medal in the Senior Women’s Classic Slalom category, competing against top international athletes.

Her achievement is a testament to the talent, discipline and determination of Bharat’s young generation. Having already represented the country at the 2025 Inline Freestyle World Championships and the World Games, Shreyasi continues to raise our flag on the global sporting stage.

Sought the divine blessings of Lord Venkateswara at the sacred Tirumala Tirupati Temple with my family on my birthday today.

As I offered my prayers, one thought remained foremost in my heart, the dream of a stronger, more united and progressive Bharat. In a vibrant democracy, differences of opinion and political ideologies are natural and essential. At the same time, there are issues of national importance where we must find common ground, build consensus and work together, keeping the larger interests of our people and our nation above political differences.

Our democracy becomes stronger when political parties and leaders rise above partisan differences on matters of national importance and work collectively towards the larger national cause. I prayed to Lord Venkateswara that our political discourse may continue to evolve with greater responsibility, maturity and a spirit of national unity, so that we can collectively accelerate the growth and transformation of our great nation.

May His blessings guide us all in this endeavour.

NLC Bharat's International Capacity Enhancement Program (ICEP) was conceived with the belief that Bharat's legislators must have opportunities to engage with the world's leading institutions, exchange ideas with global policymakers and bring back best practices that can strengthen governance and public service.

Watching this vision take shape in Chicago, with a distinguished Bharatiya delegation participating in the NCSL Legislative Summit 2026 and engaging with renowned academic and policy institutions, is deeply fulfilling. The idea was never merely to organize international visits, it was to create a movement that empowers Bharatiya legislators with global exposure, comparative insights and meaningful engagement with the world's finest democratic institutions. Seeing legislators from across Bharat from diverse states, regions and political ideologies coming together on a global platform to learn, exchange ideas and collectively strengthen democratic governance is both humbling and inspiring.

Deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Padma Shri Dr. D. Y. Patil Ji. His demise is an irreparable loss to Maharashtra's education fraternity and to everyone whose lives were touched by his vision and leadership.

Fondly known to all as 'Dada', Dr. D. Y. Patil Ji belonged to the pioneering generation of educationists who transformed the landscape of higher education in Maharashtra. Alongside visionary leaders like Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Dr. Kamalkishor Kadam, Late Dr. Patangrao Kadam, and others, he played a defining role in shaping the era of private professional education, making quality engineering and medical education accessible to generations of students. His contribution stands as a milestone in the educational development of the state.

Beyond academics, our families have shared a bond of warmth, mutual respect, and friendship spanning several decades. Dr. D. Y. Patil Ji and my father Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad shared a common dream of nation-building through education, inspiring countless institutions and millions of young minds with their unwavering commitment and vision.

On behalf of the MIT family, I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family, his colleagues, students, and all those mourning this profound loss.
