The biggest gifts I’ve had over the 37 years I’ve been BBQ’n are the mistakes. Dried out briskets, burnt pork butts, undercooked ribs…all made me better. And there’s no such thing as “perfect”. There’s just “really close”.
The accounts that say “by 30 you should have XYZ” sound extremely arrogant.
I know people that didn’t start investing or focusing on their finances until they were in their 40’s but were still able to retire in their 50’s.
Yes, you should focus on this stuff young, but guess what? you can’t change the past all you can do is focus on the future.
You never know what people have been through or going through.
So, by age 30 you should be…. 30 years old and hopefully striving to be better than you were yesterday.
Barry Bonds on carrying the torch from Willie Mays:
"I don't know about saying carrying the torch. I'm going to hang on to it with him...It's me now saying, what would he do in this situation? What would he want me to do in this situation? He would want me at the ballpark all the time. He would want me to help the guys all the time. He would want me to give back to this organization all the time. So that's what I do." #SFGiants
