@KennyMcPeek A system to ensure safety for the horses is needed. But this system of having vets on top of vets is producing bad optics. When you have a process where layers of people are getting paid to spot problems, problems will be found. They have to be found to prove it works.
How about "regular" parimutuel pools with parallel "pro" pools with access to rebates and custom take outs?
The sharks will eat the sharks, but that's going to happen when the rest of us give up due to the hidden costs we have now.

I've complained about Amy Cook, but i truly hope she enjoys being the former executive director for the Texas Racing Commission as much as I hope to enjoy it.
Idle thought #2 watching Lonchamps ... Having a 1,000 meter, 5 furlong race finish on the backstretch and far from the grandstands is such a bad idea we should expect it to be mandated in the next Texas Racing Commission rules session.
Idle thought #1 watching Longchamps races ... Owners get to design silks. How about letting the jockeys design their own cap covers? It would be one way to make the most marketable humans in the game a bit more recognizable.
