Raising RI Coalition is a group working to ensure a state in which no one is expected to raise children in deep poverty, and families can meet basic needs.
Please join us One Week from today as we Kickoff our 2025 Legislative Priorities to Lift Children Out of Deep Poverty.
✅Protect RI Benefits from Inflation
✅Restore Eligibility for LPRs
✅Increase Child Support Pass-Through
✅Pass Baby Bond Act
We know now that we have more than $52 million dollars. There is $97 million unspent TANF dollars. Please tell your legislators to spend some of it to lift RI children out of deep poverty. This money belongs the children. https://t.co/2doAvqQGob
Take less than 1 minute to send a letter directly to your legislators telling them to support addressing child poverty while providing job readiness.

RI Works, our cash assistance program, should be able to use more of the TANF Block Grant. Especially when we have over $52 million dollars sitting in reserve, while children are living in deep poverty.
We are back again advocating to protect RI children & families from deep poverty.
Please join us 3/19 as we launch our 2024 legislative priorities:
🌟Increase the RI works benefits
🌟Undo family sanctions
🌟Support the well-being of immigrant families

Earlier, I stopped by a briefing session on RI's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) federal block grant, cohosted by @RIKidsCount, @EconProgressRI, @RaisingRI@ArtBHandy & @MelissaMurrayRI & facilitated by Aditi Shrivastava, @CenterOnBudget Dep Dir of Income Security.
The TANF program has been @ArtBHandy's top priority since he's been in @RIHouseofReps. He was a force behind long-overdue rate increases and adjustments in the 2022/2023 state budgets for R.I. Works, the state’s cash-assistance and work-readiness program for low-income families.
Thank you @liveunitedri for presenting the @RaisingRI Coalition with the Community United Award. We remain committed to lifting children and their families out of deep poverty.
Congratulations to the members of the Raising RI on receiving @liveunitedri Community United Award. Join us and the other honorees on October 18th to celebrate our collective impact. https://t.co/cvM18MdxmU
Join the @RIinterfaithCo on 6/6, 3 pm at the Statehouse to advocate for the RI Works Bill (S 227 and H 5664) and Free Meals for All (H5639). These bills will help reduce poverty in Rhode Island.
This Thursday, @MelissaMurrayRI bill S227 will be heard at the Senate Finance Committee. 72% of RI Works beneficiaries are children & 38% of these children are < age 6. Improve RI works and help end deep child poverty. Pass S-227.
In Honor all moms on Mother’s Day, we are asking for your support for @artbhandy H5644 and @MelissaMurrayRI S0277 which will lift children out of deep poverty and improve opportunities for parents to get family-sustaining jobs #RIWorks@RISenate@RIHouseofReps
