The bigger lesson for me:
SEO recovery isn't always about finding one huge problem. Sometimes you find 5-10 small problems that have been sitting there unnoticed.
That's why I like combining GSC data, crawling and actual SERP analysis instead of relying on a generic SEO checklist.
Recoverd my site from Google update-
A traffic drop doesn't always come from one big technical SEO issue.
Sometimes it's a bunch of small things adding up.
I came across an interesting site recovery case where the issues were things like:
• Google ranking the wrong pages
• Misleading sitemap lastmod dates
• Repetitive page metadata
• Competitor pages winning through GitHub/docs/etc.
• GSC averages hiding what was actually happening
7. Check your internal links carefully
Small URL mistakes can quietly create redirect chains or broken internal paths.they aren't always obvious when you're looking at the page itself. Cawl the links. Don't just assume they're working.
6. "Discovered - currently not indexed" isn't always a technical problem
If the URL returns 200, has a proper canonical and isn't blocked, that's only the starting point.
Look at internal links, content quality and how the page is being discovered.
5. Be careful with sitewide GSC averages
An average position of 80+ doesn't necessarily mean your whole site is performing badly.
A handful of high-impression queries can distort the number.
I prefer breaking the data down by page and query before drawing conclusions.
4. Look at the SERP, not just your competitors
Sometimes the page you're competing against isn't another site at all.
It could be a GitHub repo, documentation, forum, tool or another SERP format.
Understanding what Google is rewarding matters.
3. Look beyond "duplicate content" checks
20 pages can have technically different meta descriptions while still being generated from almost the same template.
Programmatic and comparison pages need a closer look.
2. Don't blindly trust sitemap lastmod
If hundreds of URLs suddenly have the exact same last modified date, that's worth checking.
Your sitemap should reflect actual content changes, not just a build timestamp.
1. Check what Google is actually ranking
If Google keeps ranking one section of your site while your important pages aren't getting visibility, don't immediately create more content.
First figure out what Google seems to prefer for that query.

478 days of tracked data
@robj3d3 Would love to see the play-by-play behind that growth curve. I'm documenting my own SEO journey too, so seeing the actual decisions behind the inflection point would be incredibly useful.

It’s honestly an honor that I’m hearing investors are being approached and projects are saying that they’re doing a “MANTRA-style RWA pivot.”
As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But there’s a lot more to unpack on our back story, so here’s a 🧵👇🏼🕉️
1) It was incredibly emotional to wake up this morning and see $OM hit a new ATH, but at the same time, I reflected on just how crazy the last few months have been for MANTRA, the sherpas, and honestly, just my life.
Why aren't you bullish enough on @MANTRA_Chain?
- Smart money is accumulating $OM
- UAE's regulated Zand Bank is working with Mantra on RWA integration
- No more VC unlocks, 30% supply staked off-exchange
- $ONDO USDY vault is launching on Mantra
You can farm $OM now for free just by interacting with Hongbai Incentivized testnet.

1/ Innovation designed to bypass regulation limits its adoption in the industry.
Some of these ideas have helped shape my view in how we build @MANTRA_Chain
