TSA Reaffirms May 3 as “Manipur Peace Day”
Calls for Community Understanding as the Only Way Forward
Media Release
Friday, the 2nd May, 2025
Exactly one year after our public call to observe May 3 as “Manipur Peace Day”, the Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) once again extends a heartfelt appeal to all communities of Manipur to come together in the spirit of peace, reconciliation, and mutual understanding.
May 3, 2023, remains a painful turning point in our collective history. It marked the eruption of widespread violence and division, the scars of which are still raw for countless families across the hills and valleys of Manipur. But we must not let this day be a symbol of hatred. It must instead become a reminder of what violence destroys and what understanding can rebuild.
Despite enduring grave suffering, the Thadou people have consistently stood for peace, dialogue, and democratic resolution. As we commemorated “Manipur Peace Day” last year, we called for love in the face of hatred and empathy in the face of violence. One year later, we repeat this call because the only solution to Manipur’s conflict is community understanding.
Why Community Understanding Is the Only Path?
1. No community can thrive in isolation or in opposition to another.
2. True peace cannot be enforced by arms; it must be earned through empathy, mutual respect, and dialogue.
3. Historical injustices, grievances, and misrepresentations must be addressed, not ignored but always through non-violent, constitutional means.
Our Appeal:
We urge every individual, organization, every church, every tribe, and every political leader to:
1. Observe May 3 as “Manipur Peace Day”with solemnity, reflection, and commitment to peace.
2. Reject retaliatory or antagonistic events that deepen communal divisions.
3. Promote truth, justice, and reconciliation through constructive dialogue.
4. Educate the next generation to value harmony over hatred, truth over propaganda, and unity over vengeance.
Let Peace Be Our Legacy:
Let May 3, 2025, not remind us only of what we lost, but inspire us to protect what remains, and rebuild what is broken. We cannot undo the past, but we can choose a different future. A future rooted in peace, coexistence, and justice.
May Manipur rise above its pain and become an example to the world, not of conflict, but of courage, character, and community healing.
“Peace is for the strong and bold, not of the weak and timid.”
Statement: "Thadou is a distinct ethnic group of people. Thadou is not Kuki, or underneath Kuki, or part of Kuki, but a separate, independent entity from Kuki. Any organisation, individuals or elected representative that incorporates "Thadou" but espouses Kuki and mis-portrays Thadou as Kuki or a part of Kuki is illegitimate and does not represent Thadou people and interest" - Thadou Convention Declaration - 2024.

On this day 2 years ago, Chin Kukis started desecration of religious places in Churachandpur after burning Govt properties as part of #KukiEngineeredManipurViolence.
Had it been nipped at the bud, they wouldn't have burnt Meitei villages on May 3 and perhaps this crisis may have prevented.
“It took three years to build our house . We saw it reduced to rubble in a few seconds," Ms Rojita Devi(a Meitei citizen of Churachandpur) told NDTV in Delhi, where she also participated in a sit-in to seek safe passage to the Meitei's sacred hilltop shrine in Koubru Ching(hill)
When their own leaders glorify & celebrate child killers and hail them as martyrs, it is not long that those child killers will catch up to kill their own.

Rajat blasts @HejangMisao in response to Misao's remark about the 'Forceful imposition of Peace.'
@RajatSethi86 , "Do you not want peace?"
"You want to perpetuate this violence toward the end goal of having a UT. That is something that is not going to happen.
None of your CSOs have put up specific demands based on which free movement would be allowed.
Free movement is a constitutional right provided to every Indian citizen.
If you are still blocking it, you are directly challenging Indian authority.
Do you want to knock on the doors of the Supreme Court and claim that you want to block highways based on communal lines?
I openly challenge all community leaders to approach the SC and state that they want to block Indian citizens from free movement within India.
This is a classic approach where the intent lies elsewhere, but it has been camouflaged and smoke-screened with various narratives to maintain the status quo. "
Reminder: Misao has been caught on camera calling for Violence and keeping the State Hostage until Kukis Get their Separate Administration.
N we still wonder why @kartikeya_1975 continues to give this terrorist a platform on the National Media
🚨 When Kuki Narcos cozy up with drunk pirate lawyers, 25 seconds is enough to have a mic drop moment. 🚨
Pu @Michael_Thadou needs only 10 seconds to finish Kuki narcos propaganda.
During the 2002 Gujarat riots, Barkha Dutt was found reporting, "This is Surat’s diamond market, but there is not a single policeman here!"
She was inviting the rioting mobs to come target the "unprotected" bazar.
Vijaita Singh is Barkha Dutt-in-making! She has to be behind the bars!

The main culprit of today's mob violence at Kangpokpi is @COTU_Kangpokpi
COTU vehemently opposed the resumption of free movement in Manipur, an initiative taken by the @HMOIndia and @BhallaAjay26
COTU leaders were also seen at the sight of the violence, instigating the Kuki mob.
Violence in Manipur will only subside once the perpetrators like the leaders of COTU are arrested and taken to justice.

How frontal org of #KukiMiltants like @COTU_Kangpokpi mobilised their people to create ruckus and derail the peace building measures initiated by @HMOIndia ?
CoTU spokesperson, Lun Kipgen is seen here parroting instructions to his people on how to deal with the convoy from Imphal
This is not Afganistan or Pakistan. This is Manipur where Kuki Terrorist Outfit giving open challenge not to allow any Free Movement in all the NH of Manipur which was ordered by honourable HM @AmitShah
Security Forces' disperse Chin Kuki miscreants trying to block National Highway in Gamgiphai near Kangpokpi. Video 2.
We also urge authorities to crack down on the Chin Kuki Volunteers threatening civilians who opposes their illegal blockade of the Highways. Video 1.
National Highways is the lifeline of all communities living in land locked valley districts of Manipur.
Most importantly, we need to uproot the warlords who have propped up these groups for their vested interest. They are the masterminds behind these miscreants and Militants.
Church-backed Kuki extremists had attacked a State Transport Bus in Gamgiphai & videos have emerged showing them setting at least 1 vehicle on fire & creating roadblocks along the lifeline of Imphal Valley, the NH2

Who are Kukis? What is their culture? What is their traditional attire? What language or dialect they speak? In Manipur, all the recognised tribes have their own cultural programs, radio programmes for ages, we celebrate their unique identities but who are the Kukis? All of a sudden how come ‘Any Kuki Tribe’ appeared in the 2011 census? They’re found to be entered in the ST list in 2003! How? Let us identify who are they!
