प्रदेश के सामाजिक, आर्थिक, सांस्कृतिक और कृषि महत्व वाले आठ पारंपरिक उत्पादों को भौगोलिक संकेतक (GI) पंजीकरण प्राप्त हुआ है। इनमें शामिल हैं-
• स्पीति का सी-बकथॉर्न (छरमा)
• सलूणी सफेद मक्का
• चंबा मेटल आर्ट
• सिरमौरी लोइया
• किन्नौरी टोपी
• मंडी की सेपूबड़ी
• किन्नौरी सेब
• किन्नौरी आभूषण

इन आठ नए उत्पादों के साथ अब हिमाचल प्रदेश के कुल 17 पारंपरिक उत्पादों को हिमाचल प्रदेश विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी एवं पर्यावरण परिषद् (हिमकोस्ट) के माध्यम से GI पंजीकरण मिल चुका है।

इस उपलब्धि पर सभी प्रदेशवासियों को हार्दिक बधाई एवं शुभकामनाएँ। यह सफलता पिछले साढ़े तीन वर्षों में हमारी सरकार द्वारा हिमाचल की पारंपरिक विरासत के संरक्षण, संवर्धन और प्रचार-प्रसार के लिए किए गए निरंतर प्रयासों का परिणाम है।

GI टैग से-
• उत्पादों की मौलिकता और पहचान सुरक्षित होगी।
• बाजार में मांग और मूल्य बढ़ेंगे।
• नए रोजगार के अवसर सृजित होंगे।
• ग्रामीण अर्थव्यवस्था को नई मजबूती मिलेगी।

राज्य सरकार पांगी का भोट जौ, चंबा चुख, भरमौर का प्लेक्ट्रेंथस शहद और सिरमौर के अदरक को भी GI टैग दिलाने के लिए प्रयासरत है।
