Tamil Nadu's Budget 2026-27 commits to a US$1.5 trillion economy by 2036.

I read all 156 pages and scored it against 9 pillars of the innovation economy.

Verdict: a strong first blueprint. 7.5/10. 🧵 👏🏼 🔥

The good is real: an AI and deep-tech city, a semiconductor lab, a spaceport zone, AI skilling for 5 lakh youth, and rare fiscal honesty (a White Paper, a Montek Singh Ahluwalia revenue committee).

The gap is the one TN2035's first Scoreboard already proved: no state startup fund, and no tier-2 GCC policy, while Karnataka and Telangana already have one.

The destination is right. The next budgets must build the engine that reaches it.

Tamil Nadu’s @TVKVijayHQ Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay @CMOTamilnadu received Union Home Minister @AmitShah last evening, their first meeting since he took oath. Today he sits as Vice-Chairman of the 31st Southern Zonal Council, a forum that has not convened since 2022.

What stands out is not the politics but the posture. Cauvery, industrial investment, infrastructure, disaster management. These are not issues that respond to volume. They respond to people who are willing to sit in the same room and stay there.

A new Chief Minister choosing engagement over confrontation in his first outing with Delhi is a good sign for Tamil Nadu. Federalism works best when the door is open in both directions. @TN2035movement
