#WATCH | Zojila Pass, J&K: Chief Operating Officer of Megha Engineering, Harpal Singh says, “…Once the Zojila Tunnel is complete... You often hear the news that traffic over the Zojila Pass remains suspended for four or five months a year. The construction of this tunnel will bring immense relief to the people of Ladakh, as the route will no longer be blocked. Secondly, even when the Zojila Pass is open—and even in perfect weather—at least fifty to sixty accidents occur there annually, claiming as many lives. This project will significantly boost Ladakh's economy, leading to an increase in taxis, hotels, and shops. That is the third major benefit. A breakthrough has been achieved today, but it will take another two and a half years to complete the tunnel entirely. Since today is June 9th, the process will span through June 2027 and 2028; traffic is expected to start moving through the tunnel by the end of 2028...”
#WATCH | Jammu and Kashmir: Janak Singh Rathore, a geotechnical expert, says, "I extend my heartiest congratulations to everyone on the construction of such a massive tunnel at this high altitude. It is the highest tunnel in the world and the longest in Asia, making it a tremendous achievement for the entire nation. This is a strategic project. Primarily, it offers immense advantages for defence purposes, providing an all-weather route that allows for year-round movement. It is also crucial for tourism; previously, tourists would get stranded in Srinagar, unable to reach Ladakh. Now, they can access the region, including for winter sports. Thus, it is a major step for tourism and the economy, ensuring excellent connectivity between Ladakh and Kashmir and facilitating a steady flow of tourists. Fifty per cent of the work is done; the remaining fifty per cent is yet to be completed. The milestone for commissioning is set for 2028. However, there are components like the ventilation system and other elements; the project will be completed as quickly as possible in accordance with the design specifications."

I don’t owe an explanation to any political party. But Kashmiris deserve to know the truth about every diversion being used to deflect attention from the unprecedented cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha polls, which helped @BJP4India win a Rajya Sabha seat.
Claims. @jkpdp claims that this issue is being used to divert attention from matters such as Urdu and the declaration of Siraj-ul-Uloom as an unlawful entity.
Fact check: I filed my first RTI application on March 6, 2026, with the Election Commission of India (ECI) to seek details about the appointment of authorized agents by political parties. On March 20, the ECI communicated to me that the application had been transferred to the Returning Officer for the Rajya Sabha polls through the office of the CPIO, Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir.
Second RTI application: After failing to get information from the Returning Officer (RO) within the prescribed 30-day period, I filed another application on April 20, 2026 with the Department of Justice, Law and Parliamentary Affairs to seek information on these matters, since it is the administrative department of the Assembly Secretariat, whose Secretary was the Returning Officer for the polls. I received the information on April 27, 2027, and immediately posted on my X handle that I would share it the next day- which I did.
Fact check on claims:
First claim: Siraj-ul-Uloom was declared an unlawful entity under UAPA on April 24, 2027- one month and 18 days after my first RTI application, and four days after my second application. Therefore, the intent to obtain information about the Rajya Sabha polls cannot be called as diversion against against the institution. Even a dimwit cannot make such a claim.
Second claim: The draft proposal on Urdu removal was issued on April 10, 2026 -one month and four days after I filed my first RTI application on the Rajya Sabha polls. Where is the link between the two? The issue has already been resolved, with CM Omar Abdullah stating that Urdu would not be dropped, and the proposal has since been shelved.
My interest in RTI:
I have been filing RTI applications on different issues ranging from human rights to governance to election-related matters. I was also awarded by the erstwhile State Information Commission for my reportage on RTI.
#WATCH | Anantnag: SSP Amod Nagpure says, "The Lieutenant Governor (LG) has started the 'Nasha Mukt UT of J&K' campaign since 11th April... the Anantnag police have been at the forefront of this... from 11th April until yesterday, in just 17 days, we registered 81 FIRs under the NDPS Act and arrested 60 drug peddlers. We have recovered a huge amount of contraband. Regarding Charas and Ganja, we have seized almost 160 kgs of contraband. We are also investigating other contrabands."
He adds, "In Anantnag, poppy cultivation is traditionally done. We have stressed that such cultivation should not be allowed. So far, we have conducted 300 drives to destroy illegal poppy cultivation and have registered 30 FIRs against such cultivators. We have attached Rs 3.25 crore worth of illegal properties raised by drug peddlers under the NDPS Act. We have also demolished illegal encroachments on prime properties worth Rs 2.5 crore.
