Glimpses from Day 1 of Nirbhay Chetna, the world’s largest campaign for gender sensitisation among Panchayat Representatives.

The day featured interactive learning, group discussions and reflective exercises focused on leadership, social responsibility and gender-responsive governance.

Through dialogue and participatory activities, participants explored social norms, challenged stereotypes and reflected on the role of Panchayat Representatives in promoting respect, equality and inclusive communities.

The programme seeks to build a cadre of trainers who can carry these learnings forward and foster positive behavioural change across Panchayats nationwide.

At the inaugural session of Nirbhay Chetna held at IIPA, New Delhi, Shri Vivek Bharadwaj, Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, unveiled the training module “Redefining Masculinity in Panchayats: Towards Inclusive Growth”.

The module has been developed to engage elected men representatives in conversations around gender, leadership, responsibility and community transformation, fostering more inclusive and responsive Panchayats.

At scale, this approach aims to support the transformation of 1 crore Self-Help Group members into Lakhpati Didis, anchoring women-led economic growth across the state.
