#WATCH | Delhi | On lawyer's strike against the arrest of an advocate by Haryana Police, New Delhi Bar Association Vice President Advocate Navneet Panwar says, "A member of the Dwarka Bar, Vikram, was arrested by the Gurgaon Special Task Force (STF) in connection with a case. On January 30, 2024, a man named Suraj Mall was murdered in Sector 8, Faridabad. The Nandu Gang was being blamed for the murder. Vikram has been in regular practice since 2019. Every day, 10-12 cases are listed under his legal practice, and he had been handling some cases against some members of the Nandu Gang. In the police's cases against these gangsters, fake encounters occur... He filed a complaint about this, and the DCP was summoned to the court. This kind of tension was ongoing. The police insisted on not interfering with their work. He was fighting the legal battle for his clients... Now, the police have arrested him... This has been going on for the past year... The result of the ongoing tussle with the police is that today, without any reason, he has been arrested by the Gurgaon police based on a disclosure statement dating back 1.5 years. If a lawyer, whose responsibility is to ensure that his client receives legal assistance within the ambit of the law, and if the police trap him in false cases, and completely flout the law, yet if any lawyer dares, they are being implicated in false cases... We will continue our strike for today. Today's strike is in solidarity and a symbolic strike. This call for a one-day strike has been given by the Coordination Committee..."
