@RajapaksaNamal@vg123e A true ally who helped undertake what would have been nearly impossible — winning the war, which caused so much misery to the Tamils, after being given a blank cheque to finish it at any cost.
#SriLanka's conflict-related sexual violence remains largely unaddressed, with survivors still being denied long-overdue justice, according to @UNHumanRights "We lost everything – even hope for justice" report.
Sexual violence in conflict constitutes a serious violation of international law, which may amount to war crimes or crimes against humanity.

@UNHumanRights has released a new report on conflict-related sexual violence in Sri Lanka. Drawing on interviews with male and female survivors inside the country, the report confirms that sexual violence by state actors has been deliberate, widespread, systemic, employed as a strategic tool and institutionally enabled. The report is based on survivors who experienced sexual violence from 1985 to 2024, where incidents committed after the end of the war revealed a clear nexus to the armed conflict.
A Toronto man was nearly beaten to death in Sri Lanka. Authorities now say the attack was ordered in Canada https://t.co/WzLmwccsgk via @niafallsreview
This vile act of hate is completely unacceptable. No one should ever be targeted or feel unsafe because of their faith. Our government stands with Ontario’s Muslim community and will always fight back against Islamophobia in all its forms.
@sanjiva@anuradisanayake@Dr_HariniA If ltte was destroyed, what more worries you have now ? You don't trust his own men ? Perhaps they may turn to provide testimonial for the crimes he had committed ?
In a modern era where higher education should cultivate morality and progress, the persistence of such brutality is deeply disturbing. #highlight#srilanka@anuradisanayake Kumara Dissanayake #lka
Another young life was tragically lost to so-called "ragging" (a practice similar to bullying in Western terms) at Sabaragamuwa University in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka must criminalize ragging and hold every perpetrator accountable. This abusive practice has not only targeted Tamil students but also countless others, leading to deaths and lifelong trauma.
A Sabaragamuwa University student has lodged a complaint with Samanalawewa Police, alleging that ragging may have led to a fellow student's suicide. Police confirms investigations are underway to determine the cause and identify those responsible.

@RajapaksaNamal you crack me up left right center - seriously @RajapaksaNamal Do you ever recall what was done by you and your father uncle against Tamils? Have you ever accepted the fact that your men went on rampage against minorities?
@RajapaksaNamal I wonder how hard it would be for you all to change your stripes and show the world that you are peace-loving souls? The painful reality is that so many children were brutally murdered by figures like your dad and uncle. @lka@FT_SriLanka
What is skepticism?
Why does Sri Lanka's NPP condemn the sanctions imposed on Sri Lankan war criminals and the arrest of Pillaiyan, who merely followed the orders of others higher up in the system's hierarchy?
