Myth: AI search only cites big brands.
In ecommerce, AI answers often pull from pages with clear specs, honest comparisons and real FAQs.
Pages with copied manufacturer text rarely get mentioned.
What does your best product page have that competitors' don't?
Unpopular opinion: publishing more won't get you cited by ChatGPT or Perplexity.
Clear, specific pages that state facts plainly and are easy to quote do.
One genuinely useful page beats ten thin ones.
Agree or disagree?
Search Console tip most SaaS teams skip:
Filter Performance by queries containing "vs", "alternative" or "pricing".
Those are buyers comparing options. Lots of impressions but few clicks there means your comparison pages need work.
What does your "vs" query list look like?
B2B buyers now ask AI tools "what's the best X for Y?" long before they visit your site.
So build pages that answer those shortlist questions directly: who it's for, honest pros and cons, how you compare.
What question do your buyers ask before booking a demo?
Local businesses: ranking on Google is only half the battle now.
AI Overviews and ChatGPT are pulling answers from sources that clearly demonstrate E-E-A-T + structured data + recent content.
If your Google Business Profile and site content don’t match, you disappear from both.
What’s one local ranking challenge you’re dealing with right now?
Quick AI SEO tip:
ChatGPT and AI Overviews love content that answers a specific question clearly in the first 100 words.
If your page buries the answer, you lose visibility.
Rewrite the opening of your key pages so the direct answer appears immediately.
Have you tested this on any of your pages yet?
Most pages that “aren’t indexed” in Search Console aren’t actually broken.
Common reasons:
• Redirects or duplicates
• Soft 404s
• Noindex or robots.txt blocks
• Thin or low-value content
Open Search Console → Pages → “Why pages aren’t indexed” and check the top reasons.
Which one shows up most on your site right now? 👇
Yeah, a lot of those membership plugins have a “allow crawling” option that doesn’t actually work well in practice. Google still ends up seeing mostly the teaser.
The cleanest fixes are usually:
• Make the free preview longer and more useful (so Google has something real to index), or
• Use a proper flexible sampling setup that Google can properly understand.
If the plugin’s option isn’t doing anything, it’s probably not solving the core issue.
Google crawled those pages, but it mostly only saw a short teaser + “Subscribe or log in to read the rest.”
Because the full content is locked behind a login/paywall, Google sees very little unique, useful content on the page.
So it decides the page isn’t worth indexing (that’s why they show as Crawled – currently not indexed).
In short: Google can reach the pages, but there’s not enough free content for it to want to index them.
@partfluency@Google@googlechrome@Windows Yeah I get what you’re saying. Those statuses are basically Google’s own answer though.
If you ever feel like dropping a couple of the actual URLs I can take a quick look, otherwise all good.
Thanks for the update.
Here’s what the numbers mean:
•Discovered – currently not indexed (522): Google knows about these URLs but hasn’t crawled them yet. Common with large sitemaps or lower-priority pages. Not urgent.
•Crawled – currently not indexed (52): Google visited these but chose not to index them (usually thin content, low value, or duplicates). This is the one worth looking at.
•Alternate page with proper canonical tag (1): Normal Google correctly followed the canonical and ignored this version.
If you want, share a few example URLs from the “Crawled – currently not indexed” list and I’ll tell you which ones actually matter.
333/355 is still healthy most of the 22 are usually redirects or duplicates.
If you want a clear answer, open Search Console → Pages → “Why pages aren’t indexed” and send a screenshot of the reasons. That will show if anything real is blocked.
Indexing is mostly technical + content quality. Happy to check the actual list if you share it.
@partfluency@Google@googlechrome@Windows 333 of 355 indexed is healthy, so nothing is broken 👍 Most of the 22 are usually redirects or duplicates, which is normal. Open Search Console → Pages → “Why pages aren’t indexed” and send me a screenshot. I’ll tell you which ones matter.
