While Sardar Patel enjoyed the support of the majority of Pradesh Congress Committees, he voluntarily stepped aside in favor of Nehru, making Nehru the unanimous choice. Nehru subsequently led the Congress and the interim government, with Patel extending his unwavering support.

India’s first general elections occurred between 25 October 1951 and 21 February 1952, more than a year after Patel’s passing on 15 December 1950. Patel neither contested nor was "denied" the Prime Ministership. The RSS/BJP’s narrative deliberately twists historical facts to serve their political agenda..
