Dhruv Jurel (3rd wicket keeper for a less than 3 week long Tournament) and Riyan Parag are in the stand byes. Looks like even if they picked another 15 players, they would not have picked @ShreyasIyer15 . Not one former cricketer or commentator has spoken out against such gross injustice for fear of annoying the @BCCI and risking their contracts or pensions. #AsiaCup2025 #ShreyasIyer

INSPIRING: An 8-year-old boy from a government school donates his savings of 10 months to the Indian Army!
This is not just a donation-it's a salute from the heart of a child.

“We don’t truly appreciate what we have, until it’s gone”.
Most badminton fans would acknowledge we’ve enjoyed a golden era in the women’s singles discipline. At least 9 different players, playing under 7 different flags, have been capable of winning a major title on any given day – Tai Tzu Ying, Carolina Marin, Ratchanok Intanon, Nozomi Okuhara, Akane Yamaguchi, Saina Nehwal, P.V. Sindhu, Chen Yu Fei, and An Se Young.
Between them these 9 players have: -
⚫️ Won 8 Olympic medals, including 3 Golds.
⚫️ Won 27 World Championship Medals, including 9 Golds won by 6 different players.
⚫️ Been 18 of the 20 women’s singles finalists at the #AllEngland over the last decade, with 6 different players winning all 10 titles since 2015.
Astonishing statistics, and with the prestigious #YonexAllEngland starting in just 3 days’ time, 6 of those 9 players have once again entered the #YAE. Of the 3 absentees, Nehwal hasn’t played in almost 2 years. And both Marin (the defending and 2-time champion) and Tai Tzu Ying (3-time former champion) are recovering from knee surgeries.
But sadly, they aren’t the only ones struggling with injury issues, 2-time former winner Okuhara has been plagued by injuries since the Tokyo Olympics. Both Yamaguchi and Sindhu have had serious foot injuries sustained in the Asian and Commonwealth Games respectively. An Se Young, the reigning world and Olympic Champion has had knee problems, and Chen Yu Fei is only just returning after a 7-month sabbatical.
Of course, injuries are unfortunately part of sport. But with 5 of those outstanding 9 players also now in their thirties, I cannot help but wonder if it’s the beginning of the end of a remarkable era. I sincerely hope not, but it’s a distinct possibility we may not see some of the 6 former champions from the last decade ever return to grace the grey courts in Birmingham again.
We’ve been truly privileged to witness the diversity, the courage, determination, skills and artistry constantly on display in recent years.
So, to mark #InternationalWomensDay let’s enjoy, appreciate and celebrate this golden era of outstanding women’s singles players while we still can.

A couple reflections on the quantum computing breakthrough we just announced...
Most of us grew up learning there are three main types of matter that matter: solid, liquid, and gas. Today, that changed.
After a nearly 20 year pursuit, we’ve created an entirely new state of matter, unlocked by a new class of materials, topoconductors, that enable a fundamental leap in computing.
It powers Majorana 1, the first quantum processing unit built on a topological core.
We believe this breakthrough will allow us to create a truly meaningful quantum computer not in decades, as some have predicted, but in years.
The qubits created with topoconductors are faster, more reliable, and smaller.
They are 1/100th of a millimeter, meaning we now have a clear path to a million-qubit processor.
Imagine a chip that can fit in the palm of your hand yet is capable of solving problems that even all the computers on Earth today combined could not!
Sometimes researchers have to work on things for decades to make progress possible.
It takes patience and persistence to have big impact in the world.
And I am glad we get the opportunity to do just that at Microsoft.
This is our focus: When productivity rises, economies grow faster, benefiting every sector and every corner of the globe.
It’s not about hyping tech; it’s about building technology that truly serves the world.
Jio is fooling us big time! TRAI ordered telecom companies to introduce voice-only plans, and here's what Jio did:
Earlier, they had a ₹479 plan with unlimited voice + 6 GB data. Now, they’ve removed that plan and launched a new 'voice-only' plan for ₹458. But wait—if you add 6 GB of data for ₹69, the total jumps to ₹527 for the same thing!
The best part is that TRAI knows they are fooling people.
Yesterday I had the very sad duty to attend the funeral of Jeyesh Ram, 27 year old son of my dear friend Cibi Anand and Priya. He lost his life in a para-gliding accident in Kulu, Himachal Pradesh last Friday.
Way too many accidents happen with sickening regulatory there and I am deeply saddened Jeyesh became the latest statistic. Much stronger regulatory oversight required here.
We had invested in Jeyesh's venture Tools Hub, a fast growing hardware retail store franchise. His father Anand suggested the name Karuvi and it was Tools Hub distributor Abdul Gafoor, a long time Zoho customer and good friend of Anand who suggested the idea of Karuvi to us.
Jeyesh was a dashing young man, very kind to his employees and all those around him. He had the world ahead of him.
He was a risk taker. So am I but even at his age I would do a risk analysis and would have declined para-gliding in Kulu as too accident prone. I hope young people, particularly young men, avoid bad risks like this.
I hope his death does not go in vain and regulators take a good look at this.
All of us came together to bid tearful farewell to Jeyesh yesterday. Om Shanti 🙏
You never take things for granted in life or in sport. Three days ago, Australia were storming towards another Women's T20 World Cup. India's men's team was on top of the world and Pakistan cricket was the subject of much ridicule.
