( Monica studied him for a moment, searching his eyes. Then her expression softened. )

( She gave his hand a gentle squeeze. )

“That’s how I’ll know you mean it.”

Luke said while still maintaining eye contact with Monica.

A visible sign he meant those words.

( Monica’s smile faded just a little, her gaze steady but calm. )

“I like being close to you, I do. But if all you want is that, maybe you’re missing what makes this real.”

Luke said while still holding Monica’s hand. Though he wanted to a lot more with her, he too was satisfied with their dinner date.

“How bout’ we do something more intimate next time though.”

Cage would say while locking eyes with Monica.

(Monica pushed the door open, exhaustion clinging to her shoulders like a second cape. )

“What-a-day…”

( Monica paused for a moment, their hands still linked as she looked up at him. )

“You know I’d love to, but I’ve got to head out soon. Duty doesn’t exactly take nights off.”

( She squeezed his hand lightly.)

“But this? Tonight? It was perfect. And I’m not forgetting it.”

Luke would hold Monica’s hand as they exited the restaurant.

Cage would say softly as he walked with Monica.

( Monica laughed softly, shaking her head as she stood up with him. )

“Oh, I’m ready, But don’t think I’m not keeping score.”

( Her eyes sparkled as she laughed out loud. )

Luke would leave the money for his meal on the table for the waiter.

“Just prepare to be treated often.”

“Besides, I insist on paying my share when I can. Next time though, maybe you can treat me, deal?”
