Airport Owners Running Airlines? IndiGo MD Says No
IndiGo promoter & MD Rahul Bhatia has strongly opposed any move to let private airport operators own and run airlines.
He said it would create a massive conflict of interest and, over time, go against the interests of passengers.
Bhatia pointed out that such airport-airline ownership has no global precedent.
His comments came during IndiGo’s post-earnings call after reports that the government is looking at relaxing cross-ownership rules to bring in more airline players.
