Yesterday, I was asked about the "Jagannath Temple" which is being constructed at Digha by the WB Govt.

I replied that the WB Govt isn't constructing a Temple, rather a "Cultural Centre" as because the Constitution of India bars the Governments; be it Central or State or its agencies to spend the taxpayers money on building religious infrastructure.

The WB Govt or any of its agencies do not have the legal or religious authority to build a Temple for Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra.

For example, the Central Government or the UP Government aren't bearing the construction cost of the Majestic Ram Temple at Ayodhya. Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerath Kshetra Trust is taking care of the expenses with donations from Hindus across the globe.

In order to substantiate my statement, I have appended the Tender & Work Order documents of the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO) along with this post. You can see it clearly that the tendered work is specifically mentioned as, "Jagannath Dham Sanskriti Kendra":-

Instead of worrying about the colour of Team India’s jersey, Mamata Banerjee should worry about collapsing governance and dilapidated healthcare infrastructure in West Bengal.

19-year old Mamani Roy, married, was suffering from fever (several people in West Bengal have succumbed to Dengue in the last few days), died on the way, while being carried on a cot to a nearby hospital (5 km away) in Bamangola, Malda. The condition of road is so bad that ambulance or e-rickshaw refused to come.

As of this isn’t horrifying enough, one has to only see Malda Govt hospital to know how bad it is.

Mamata Banerjee should stop worrying about the saffron and focus on providing basic services to the people of West Bengal. Expecting her to provide them dignity and respectability is far fetched.
