NIMBYs claim we need to stop density or we end up with "horror" buildings like these.
City of Sydney wants to heritage list them.
The thing opponents of new housing share is irrational fear of change.

For those that are interested – I run a website that lets you simulate the outcome of a countback in the ACT Legislative Assembly: https://t.co/I2BWMxb8zA
I’ve just updated it for the 2024 election.
Now you can see what’d happen if your favourite MLA were to resign. Have fun!
Reducing HECS debts means higher taxes on those who were not fortunate enough to attend uni.
It is fundamentally unfair.
It is also bad in terms of efficiency and fiscal policy.

In spite of this, I think we can be proud of our efforts and hold our heads high. There is a future where Liberals govern in the ACT, and yesterday we almost made it there. Thanks all 💙
It’s clearer now than ever that Canberrans see a comprehensive, city-wide Light Rail network as part of that future. In my view, it’s time for us to get on board.
If we want to remain viable as a voice for Liberalism in Canberra, we need to be a party of aspiration and optimism, not a party of stubborn, grumbling, backwards negativity. We need to look towards our city’s future and commit to building that future.
Looks like we didn’t quite get there! I want to thank the many hundreds of Kurrajong voters who decided to entrust me with their first preference vote, and the volunteers who helped me every step along the way. 🧵
The Canberra Liberals now have an opportunity to engage in some introspection. We have fought and lost multiple elections opposing Light Rail. In Kurrajong, which has seen first-hand the city building benefits of Light Rail, we faced a humbling 4% swing against us.
A lot of buzz in Watson today! It’ll be a close one, but I’m feeling good about picking up a second seat in Kurrajong.
In just over 6 hours, we’ll know for sure.
~100,000 Canberrans have already voted! 🗳️
Having spent over 70 hours at early voting centres in the Inner North, I’m confident I’ve done everything I can to win over early voters in my area.
Now we enter the final 48 hours of the campaign, and I am ready to bring it home 💪
I’ve always said that a shift from leasehold to freehold land needs to happen in the ACT.
This is one of the things we can explore with a new, smarter Liberal government.

It was great to spend the afternoon in the city with @ed_cocks_mla.
If you’re looking for a candidate in Murrumbidgee who shares my passion for housing affordability, planning reform, and getting more people into home ownership, Ed Cocks is a very solid choice.
