Since enforcing its historic 1992 Land Acquisition Act in 2001 – which aimed to return Zimbabwean land stolen by European criminals to its rightful, African owners – Zimbabwe has faced endless sanctions from the West. Western media has continued to purposefully ignore the inevitable effects of these sanctions, pinning all of Zimbabwe’s problems on “corruption” and “bad leadership”.

As Africans, we must draw on Mugabe’s wisdom to understand the real forces fueling our current economic, social and political problems.

The same forces that once sold us like livestock.
