As Asim Munir, Pakistan’s military chief, seeks to project strength abroad, militant violence in his country is the worst it has been in a decade https://t.co/5k7T80NIdG
Rather than indulging Mr. Gul's doomsday scenario, Western countries need only do one thing: stop viewing Afghanistan through the Pakistani military establishment's distorted lens and engage with it directly, diplomatically. That alone would secure the access and influence they desire to seek.
No one is more hurt than Pakistani nationalists when Afghanistan has a deal with another country. They prefer us begging with a destroyed economy.
The so called "Muslim" country.
Even purchasing air defence drives them insane.
Regional Economic Integration: Afghanistan- Central Asia Trade Hits $1.27 Billion

One of the most horrific scenes in human history has been revealed.
The moment a small child carrying a water jug to her besieged and thirsty family was bombed, killing her and shattering her body.
A video the world must never forget.
In October 1996, during the unipolar moment, under the leadership of Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin, all former Soviet republics convened an emergency summit in Almaty, in Kazakhstan to discuss the Taliban take-over of Kabul in September of that year.
While Russia was at its weakest point in a century, fear and panic dictated its regional politics. Russia was also at war with its own Muslim minorities in the Caucasus.
30 years later, the world is no longer unipolar. Russia is gaining ground against United States and Europe as a major power on the global stage.
Now, Russia has invited Taliban-led Afghanistan to another major security summit. This time, they have signed major defence agreements with Afghanistan.
So much has changed in global politics in 30 years. Yet, Western analysts and commentators are still stuck in old paradigms. Western countries still think that hosting conferences for a bunch of Afghan pederasts and heroin smugglers and berating Taliban about human rights is a winning strategy.
On the sidelines of the “International Security Forum” in Moscow, Russia and Afghanistan signed an agreement on military-technical cooperation.
Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, the Defense Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, and Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, were also present at the signing ceremony.
The International Security Forum, initiated by Russia’s Security Council, is being held in Moscow from May 26 to 29.
