सामाजिक न्याय के प्रतीक, भारत के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री श्री विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह गहरवार जी की जयंती पर विनम्र श्रद्धांजलि।

25 जून 1931 को इलाहाबाद के निकट दैया ज़मींदारी में एक गहरवार क्षत्रिय परिवार में जन्मे विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह जी के पूर्वज माण्डा शाखा से थे तथा अतीत में मानिकपुर के शासक रहे। गहरवार होने के नाते वे सम्राट जयचंद गहरवार के भाई राजा मानिकचंद के वंशज थे। वर्ष 1936 में उन्हें माण्डा के राव गोपाल सिंह ने गोद लिया।

केवल 26 वर्ष की आयु में भूदान आंदोलन में सक्रिय भागीदारी के कारण आचार्य विनोबा भावे ने उनकी तुल��ा गौतम बुद्ध से की थी।

वे 1969 में पहली बार सोरांव से तथा 1971 में फूलपुर से निर्वाचित हुए। वर्ष 1980 से 1982 तक वे उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री रहे।

1989 में वे भारत के प्रधानमंत्री बने और सामाजिक न्याय की दिशा में कई ऐतिहासिक एवं दूरगामी निर्णय लिए।

उन्होंने अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग (OBC) आरक्षण लागू किया। डॉ. भीमराव आंबेडकर के निधन के 44 वर्ष बाद उन्हें भारत रत्न से सम्मानित कराया तथा पहली बार संसद भवन में डॉ. आंबेडकर का चित्र स्थापित कराया।

उनकी सरकार ने संविधान में संशोधन कर यह सुनिश्चित किया कि बौद्ध धर्म अपनाने पर भी अनुसूचित जाति के बौद्धों को आरक्षण का लाभ प्राप्त हो सके।

उन्होंने लालकृष्ण आडवाणी की सांप्रदायिक राजनीति के विरुद��ध भी दृढ़ता से खड़े होकर संवैधानिक मूल्यों की रक्षा की।

प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में उनका मात्र 10 महीने का कार्यकाल करोड़ों वंचित एवं पिछड़े लोगों के लिए सामाजिक न्याय का नया अध्याय सिद्ध हुआ।

फिर भी वे इतिहास में अपेक्षित सम्मान से वंचित रहे—दक्षिणपंथ और वामपंथ, दोनों ��े उन्हें पर्याप्त महत्व नहीं दिया। सामाजिक न्याय से वंचित उनके अपने राजपूत समाज को भी उनके योगदान से दूर कर दिया गया।

हम सामाजिक न्याय के इस महानायक श्री विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह गहरवार जी को भारत रत्न प्रदान किए जाने की मांग करते हैं।
