Prince was such a massive fan of THE MUPPETS, he asked if he could host the Muppets Tonight show in 1997, leading to one of the rare instances we saw a more comedic version of himself instead of the quiet and reserved persona fans were used to 😂👏
@GoneBoy94 Ugh that Cate won her first for this. And later lost for Tar!
Virginia Madsen should have won. She gave a sterling performance that was both earthy and transcendent.
@GoneBoy94 Shohreh Aghdashloo, in a walk. And I love all five. EW once did a survey of Academy voters, and this is one of few categories where they’d retroactively changed their minds. And that was before Judy.
@JoyceCarolOates I read Puzo’s book. It’s fun, but the movie is far superior.
I think the fantastic film adaptation of “The Remains of the Day” is on par with the book.
$14 million “beautification” and just 3 days later it looks worse than ever because there was a reason we didn’t paint the reflecting pool dark colors like “American flag blue.” Mainly that it would raise the water temp and cause rapid algae growth.
@mrbrianrowe Yes, yes, yes. A thousand times yes.
The Academy didn’t embrace The Ice Storm because it was so dark, but they should have. It is brilliant.

@JoyceCarolOates Never Let Me Go still haunts. The passivity of the organ bearers saddened but didn’t surprise me. And the revelation of why their art was being collected…
"The Maids is simple in plot but dense in thematic complication"
