@andybfaedundee Or if either are noteworthy enough to be considered as a key theme and a crowning achievement of the UK? Arguably they are not. The hosting of the Olympics (dating back to 776BC) and the Jubilee (60yrs of a monarchs reign) are far more relevant than a movie. Even objectively.

Look. My favourite part of the #NewYearsEve2025 #LondonFireworks celebrations was the inexplicable decision to celebrate the #Wicked film franchise. I don’t know why they chose that particular franchise or what relevance it has on #NYE celebrations, but I absolutely loved it.

@andybfaedundee No sure. I get all that. I’m just wondering whether an American movie primarily filmed in the UK is relevant to NYE revelry, more so than say an American/ European movie such as Bridget Jones 4 which was exclusively shot it the UK and grossed higher domestic box office returns?

@andybfaedundee Right, but why 2025 AND Wicked? I mean singling out any one film doesn’t really make sense in the context of celebrating NYE. It’s as arbitrary as referencing Hayley Atwell for her contribution to Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning because she was born in London too.

So I went to the @ThePCCLondon this morning to watch #AlfredHitchcock’s seminal masterpiece #RearWindow and it was genuinely such pleasure to see that on the silver screen. 2 Hitchcock movies in 1 year on 2 different continents isn’t bad at all. Shooting for NXNW next.

Everyone is losing their minds over #QuentinTarantino’s criticism of #PaulDano but I have not seen even one person question why the fuck Tony Scott’s bang average action movie Unstoppable even makes the list! I mean, his 2001 movie Spy Game is vastly superior.

Things seem to rarely exceed expectations. Seeing @oasis in #SaoPaulo for their final show definitely DID exceed ALL expectations and I’ll remember that night forever. Because people always remember how you made them feel, and it felt biblical.

The Craig films altered the Overton window (or reacted to it), and in doing so invited an audience interrogation.
