Innocent people are always caught in the crossfire of wars. The innocent don’t have a “dog in the fight.” Their allegiance is not to either side but just doing their best to live peacefully with those around them. We can’t possibly understand collateral damage from our couch.

One question I regularly get from people is, "Why is God so morbidly violent in the Old Testament?" Why does he seem to sanction genocide, infanticide and unspeakable acts of brutality? Did God get anger management between the Old and New Testaments?

If you need God to tell you specifically what lies ahead it would get too much in your head. Blaise Pascal a giant of an intellect said, “The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing of. We know the truth not only by reason, but by the heart.”

Would we continue to follow Him if He never answered another prayer or at least in the way we desire? Do we follow with a “whats in it for me” motivation? It has been said, “some people will only love you as much as they can use you. Their loyalty ends where the benefits stop.”
