Aid must be able to reach those who need it most. At a @WFP warehouse in Amman, I saw supplies being prepared to deploy to Gaza and heard the challenges of getting aid through to those who need it most. Canada will always call for safe, rapid and unimpeded humanitarian access.

The killing of 7 humanitarian workers, including Canadian Jacob Flickinger, demands accountability. Humanitarian workers must be protected, and international humanitarian law must be upheld. Canada will continue pressing for answers and justice for the victims and their families.

The IDF’s decision not to pursue a criminal investigation into the killing of seven World Central Kitchen humanitarian workers, including Jacob Flickinger, a Canadian citizen, is unacceptable.

Serious failures were identified in the conduct of the strike, and closing the case without further accountability leaves their families without the answers they have sought for more than two years.

Humanitarian workers delivering food and other life-saving assistance in conflict zones must be protected. Canada expects international humanitarian law to be upheld and will continue pressing for a full accounting of what happened, along with justice for the seven workers who were killed and their families.
