BBC News at Ten dedicated more than a quarter of its schedule last night to revisiting for the umpteenth time historical events, from October 7, in which Israelis were the victims. Newsnight also gave it enormous attention.

Inevitably that meant sidelining current, ongoing events in which many 10,000s of Palestinians have been killed so far, and many hundreds of Lebanese – in which Israelis are the aggressors.

The BBC isn't giving us the news. It's manipulating our sympathies so that we care more about something that happened, briefly, in the past that we cannot change than we do about something far worse being done for far longer, carried out in our name and funded with our taxes, that could be ended today if we had the will to end it.

Which is why the BBC is making sure we never have such a will, that we are willing to let a genocide ride, because, hey, if it was really that bad the BBC would tell us – wouldn't they?
