It’s not lost on me this Memorial Day that Aaron Bushnell lit himself on fire saying “This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal.” And now 3 months later we’re watching people burn alive in Rafah.
The Ontario Federation of Labour @OFLabour, representing 1 million workers in Ont., holds a rally at the UofT encampment after the @UofT issued trespass notice to clear the demonstration site by 8 a.m. on Monday morning.
“The students, the workers united will never be defeated”
Those families followed evacuation orders. They built and set up tents. They were in the ‘safe zone’. They are as ‘perfect’ a victim can get for the West and yet none of that will humanise them enough to end this genocide. May every person supporting this burn in Hell
Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza shares what he wants people to know about Palestine: "We are humans, we’re asking for and fighting for our freedom. We are not animals, my people are getting killed, murdered, and starving"
Refaat Alareer wrote a poem called “If I Die,” asking people to fly a kite in his name if he’s killed to give hope to orphaned children.
He wrote it for his daughter, Shaima.
Israel killed him. Months later Shaima had a baby.
Israel killed Shaima.
And her husband and baby.
the only tortured poet I want to hear about is the one who was martyred by israel. You cannot claim to be a tortured poet when you grew up safe, never knowing the true torture, never experiencing the true pain. Dr. Refaat Alareers last poem before he was murdered: if I must die.
What a dumb fucking world we live in where the country that carried our retaliatory attacks is being sanctioned, not the country that provoked the attacks and whose leader has overseen the slaughter of 30,000 men, women, and children in the last 6 months.
It hurts my heart how many US universities tell students to "prove to us that you will be an ethical, moral hero who will stand for what's right above and beyond all others" in their admissions essays just to get in, then will punish them when they do just that on campus.
I truly hope Iran's military response to Israel's bombing of the Iranian embassy in Syria doesn't escalate into a full blown war. At the same time I urge everyone to remain committed to stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its brutal violence in the West Bank. This is the only path to peace in the region and beyond. #CeasefireNOW #ProtectivePresenceOPT #Genocide_in_Gaza
i was listening to falasteen radio this afternoon. they had a palestinian poet from lebanon on reading some poetry. he said something so powerful:'yes, its harrowing to be oppressed and to be fighting for our survival, but I'm grateful not to be an oppressor, that is a blessing.'
“This is not a normal war. The war in Ukraine has killed 500 kids in two years and the war in Gaza has killed over 10,000 in less than five months. We have seen wars before but this is something that is a dark stain on our shared humanity.” -Dr. Fozia Alvi https://t.co/6kYj7ICWdP
going mad seeing #ceasefirenow everywhere and especially again since yesterday. ceasefire was too little too late in October. it is April now. we need sanctions, arms embargoes, settlements dismantled, right to return, UNRWA refunded, and billions more to a sovereign Palestine
Deeply touched by the MANY who stood up agst the recent attacks on my mandate & persona. I treasure your messages of solidarity and concern, and trust me: I am fine.
Let's stay focused on Palestine, the Palestinians and let's make sure we stop the ongoing genocide.
