I love how the artists captured her ties to the Mardu while still using the Kolaghan designs, working in details like wing shapes in the red banners!

As the conceptor for these images and narrative lead on the upcoming Tarkir set I can confirm this is former Khan Alesha (and not her grandmother). She’s depicted here as part of Kolaghan’s brood, after she relinquished her title and ended the Mardu clan name. #WOTCstaff

It was a perfect opportunity show her as an elder, like we’d shown before on the Pride Secret Lair. Unlike many of the other khans she lived on after the khanfall, prioritizing the survival of her people over a name. In her own way ensuring that the Mardu would continue on.
