@godfree Wasn’t crazy taxi supposed to be a online multiplayer games as a service style game. I hope it’s not the one that got canceled. I remember when they announced it in the press release afterwards, explaining that it was going to be multiplayer focused.
@44F0rc3 This one I think is fine because it’s more than just a facelift. They’ve added a whole bunch of new missions and new characters from what I’ve heard from my jam. It’s about 10 to 15 hours worth of new content. And it’s not 70 which I think is a win.
Game Pass is a real alternative. I have many friends two family members from my college years who are developers, that would say game pass is the reason their game successful. (indie and AAA), success rates outside ecosystems like Game Pass are extremely low—only a small fraction of games break through. Look at the last 5 years: plenty of well-reviewed titles launched without day-one Game Pass and still failed to find an audience. Game Pass materially increases discoverability and adoption. Even Expedition 33’s devs said it was a major factor in their success—it likely would’ve done fine otherwise, but not at that scale.
Call of Duty is the exception. Putting it on Game Pass was clearly about driving subs, and it didn’t move the needle much. Meanwhile, many existing subscribers who used to buy CoD annually now just play it via Game Pass, which likely cannibalized sales revenue.
If day-one were inherently bad, non–first-party devs wouldn’t keep opting into it—especially studios that have done it multiple times.
That said, it should be case by case. Big revenue drivers like CoD—and there is an argument to be made for Forza. (Glad it’s in game) But most games aren’t outliers, and many day-one launches (even ones people questioned, like Silksong) haven’t been hurt by it
@asha_shar I doubt you’ll read this, but I just wanted to ask for those of us who continue to subscribe and pay the $30 since the price was dropped back down. Is there anything you’re going to do for us who have paid that higher price since the change?
@Nintendont_64 To me, it is the greatest video game console all time.
Crazy taxi
Jet set radio
Sonic adventures
Ready to rumble boxing (needs to return)
Such a great time to be a gamer
@Nintendont_64 I do hope with the new virtual fighter game and development. They will dip into some of their IP’s and get some good guest characters. Personally, I wouldn’t mind beat from Jets set radio I think a graffiti martial artist would be cool.
@DestinLegarie Xbox could still turn this generation around—but not through exclusives. Undercut PlayStation instead. Drop Series S/X back to launch prices across the board. They’re already doing it via “Just For You” on Xbox One—make it the standard.
@WindowsCentral If Xbox wants to compete and put console back at number one Priority for them. I would just go back to launch day pricing and undercut Sony especially since they’ve been doing those just for you deals on Xbox one to get people to upgrade and those are launch day prices.
@asha_shar#xbox should take advantage of the #PlayStation price increase and take the Xbox console back to launch prices. It would show that you’re committing to console first.
Y’all have already been targeting those prices with Xbox one owners and just for you deals. Imo. @xbox
@_1017__@charlieINTEL This is not a true statement consoles will always be relevant. I’m a PC player and even I understand that. But I will say this pricing you can buy a prebuilt with about the same spec level for around the same price. If anything $100 more.
