Tears for Fears • Rule the World: The Greatest Hits(2017)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023
The hits and one really good new song (I Love You But I’m Lost) and one also included on the newest album (Stay). After going through the discography, this collection definitely feels incomplete.
Tears for Fears • Saturnine Martial & Lunatic (1996)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023#FirstListen
This collection of rarities from 83-93 is a mixed bag for sure. I hadn’t heard New Star or The Way You Are in forever so that was cool, but there’s a bunch of stuff here I can skip.
Tears for Fears • Everybody Loves a Happy Ending (2004)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023#FirstListen
After a couple of listens I thought this was ok. The songs were fine but the influences were just too obvious. A couple more listens and I was hooked. Last Days on Earth - amazing!
Tears for Fears • Raoul and the Kings of Spain (1995)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023#FirstListen
Maybe not as good as the previous album, but I still found a lot to like about this one which was a pleasant surprise.
@DarylMann11 I think I need to listen to it more to get a clear favorite because that album is full of great songs, but Goodbye Song is a strong contender.
Tears for Fears • Elemental (1993)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023#FirstListen
I had zero expectations for this one and likely avoided it since the duo was down to one. I haven’t heard Break It Down Again since it came out. Brilliant song! And this album is fantastic!!
Tears for Fears • Sowing the Seeds of Love (1989)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023
I really thought this like their 5th or 6th album, not their 3rd. A different sound on this one showing their growth. The title track is amazing, but the rest of this is pretty great too!
Tears for Fears • Songs from the Big Chair (1985)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023
I’ve heard this one in full couple of times before but that’s it. It gets better each time. It’s been almost 40 years (!) but I still never get tired of EWtRtW. The guitar solos on that song are perfect.
Tears for Fears • The Hurting (1983)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023#FirstListen
Since I’m seeing them in about a week, it’s high time I expanded beyond their greatest hits. This is a fantastic debut! I feel like a chump for not listening to it in full until now.
Various Artists • Popeye: Music from the Motion Picture (1981)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023
Another musical that is hated more than loved I’ve always liked this one, but the recent inclusion of the Harry Nilsson demos makes this one indispensable for me.
Various Artists • Grease 2 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (1982)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023
I still really enjoy this soundtrack which means I’m still a long way from being considered cool.
@RockSolidShow Between those 2 I would go with Buckingham. They both brought great songs, but he also brought the production skills to make everyone’s songs sound even better.
Led Zeppelin • Coda (1982)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023
I’ve always really liked this one, especially the 2nd half. If a Led Zeppelin song is stuck in my head, there’s a good chance it’s Wearing and Tearing, Bonzo’s Montreaux, or Darlene. The 2 bonus discs are surprisingly great!
Albert Hammond Jr • Yours to Keep (2006)
#RockSolidAlbumADay2023
I always really enjoy revisiting this album! So many great songs - In Transit, 101, Hard to Live in the City, a fun cover of Well Alright. I didn’t expect a solo album from a Strokes member to be so good.
