Indonesian fashion designers are better off pursuing a career outside Indonesia. The Indonesian market will limit your creativity so much you will not find joy in what you do. It’s designer vs. pedagang; pedagang will sell / copy anything that sells and they will win.

Nothing feels original and it’s sad because Indonesia used to be foreseen as the next biggest fashion hub in Asia. But it clearly isn’t. Most brands are just busy making a twist out of high-end brands and calling themselves a “label” or “studio” ~ “as long as my feed looks good”.
