The 63-65 Rangers head into the weekend looking for revenge in a three-game series against the 51-77 Los Angeles Angels.

The last series between these teams started promisingly with an extra-innings win for Texas, but quickly soured. The Rangers were outscored 15-4 over the final three games, extending the Angels’ season-series lead to 7-3.

Since then, Los Angeles lost two of three to Kansas City in a tightly contested series before beginning a Texas two-step in Houston. The Angels emphatically took Thursday’s rubber match, 18-3, where SS Zach Neto hit 5-for-6 an had seven RBI.

Before facing the Rangers in a mid-week series, the Nationals had been shut out just twice all season. Cal Quantrill and Jacob deGrom delivered dominant performances to lead Texas to shutout wins in Games 1 and 3. The Rangers struck out 15 times in a 6-0 loss in Game 2.

MacKenzie Gore opens the series, with Cody Bradford and Cal Quantrill rounding out the weekend rotation. With deGrom looking sharp after missing a start and Jack Leiter’s return looming, the Rangers’ rotation could soon have a different look.
